mysterious figure named „Nimrod.“ Everything starts with a man named Ralph Loring, who approaches Matlock, whose brother died due to an overdose of heroin. Ralph feeds James with the information that the justice department has acquired over the years on Nimrod. Heared everything he just couldn´t resist taking the job although it puts his life in danger. Loring also gives James the document that plays very important role in this book. Just in the beginning of the book Loring is brutally murdered within minutes after a meeting with Matlock. James still decides to start his investigations. Nimrod finds out about Matlock and they try to stop him. They even get his girlfriend brutally tortured and gang raped which makes Matlock very emotional. Eventually James discovers something that not only puts his own life but also the life of the girl he loves at risk. One thing I liked the most in this book was that every chapter of the book ends with

Stanislav Stõkov 12A The Amityville Horror The Amityville Horror is a fightening remake of the 1979 horror classic. The film is directed by Andrew Douglas and the story takes place in a Long Island home in the `70s. The movie begins with a gruesome sight, where the entire family was brutally slaughtered by the father. He explained to the police that the voices in side his head made him do it. One year later a family of five was looking for a new place to live. They stumbled across that same building, where the mass murder had happened. Despite the tragedy they bought it because of the low price. Georg, the father of the family, even said that houses do not kill people. countries, homosexual acts are forbidden by law (Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Bosnia...); in many countries, the punishment can exceed ten years in prison (Nigeria, Libya, Syria, India, Malaysia, Jamaica...); sometimes, the law prescribes life imprisonment (Guyana, Uganda). And in a dozen countries, capital punishment may be actually carried out (Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia...). In Africa, recently, several presidents have brutally acted on their will to combat personally this "scourge" which they consider "anti-African". Even in other countries where homosexuality is not considered a crime, persecutions have multiplied. In Brazil, for example, death squads and skin heads spread terror: 1,960 homophobic murders have been officially reported between 1980 and 2000. In these conditions, it is difficult to think that "tolerance" is gaining ground. On the contrary, in the majority of these nations, homophobia

pleasure. He falls in love with Sibyl Vane, a young actress who performs in a theater in London's slums. She refers to him as "Prince Charming" and refuses to heed the warnings of her brother, James Vane, that Dorian is no good for her. They become engaged, much to the surprise of Lord Henry and Basil. For a moment, it seems like everything will turn out wonderfully but after the engagement Sybil talent suddenly disappears. This destroys Dorian's love for her, and he brutally dumps her. Back home, he notices a something different in his portrait--it looks somehow crueler. In the meanwhile Sybil commits suicide, just as Dorian decides to return to her and take back his terrible words. The next day, he covers his portrait and moves it to the attic, to which Dorian has the only key. He then settles in to read a yellow book sent by Lord Henry; the book becomes Dorian's blueprint for life. Several years pass, and Dorian lives a hedonistic life according to the

Hemingway A Farewell to Arms (themes, motifs, symbols)

A Farewell to Arms holds up several of its minor male characters as examples of fine manhood. Rinaldi is a faithful friend and an oversexed womanizer; Dr. Valentini exhibits a virility to rival Rinaldi's as well as a bold competence that makes him the best surgeon. Similarly, during the scene in which Henry fires his pistol at the fleeing engineering sergeants, Bonello takes charge of the situation by brutally shooting the fallen engineer in the head. The respect with which Hemingway sketches these men, even at their lowest points, is highlighted by the humor, if not contempt, with which he depicts their opposites. The success of each of these men depends, in part, on the failure of another: Rinaldi secures his sexual prowess by attacking the priest's lack of lust; Dr. Valentini's reputation as a surgeon is thrown into relief by the three

evaluation test will be in an appendix. Remember that evaluation methods are not restricted to laboratory experiments. They can be a computer simulation, hand analysis, or a user survey. You can include a description of additional tests that should be performed either in this section or in the Next Steps section, wherever it fits best. This section is written in past tense because the tests were in the past. Assessment This is the brutally honest section where you assess the strengths and weaknesses of your design. Be enthusiastic, but candid. Do not oversell or undersell your solution. The assessment should be based on your evaluation, because presumably, a design that meets the requirements is a good design. However, the results often are different than what you expected, things are learned along the way and there is never enough time to perfect the solution.

and he estimates his arrival time will be six o'clock in the evening. The man is traveling on foot; all he has by way of supplies is his lunch. It is not long before he realizes that the temperature is colder than fifty below, but this fact does not yet worry him. Part II The man is accompanied only by a dog--``a big native husky,'' wilder than other breeds. Despite its heavy fur, the dog dislikes traveling in brutally cold weather. It knows instinctively that the temperature is actually seventy-five below zero and that no one should be out in such ``tremendous cold.'' The man reaches Henderson Creek, which has frozen and can be used as a trail but is also riddled with dangerous winter springs that never freeze and are hidden beneath a thin layer of river ice. Although he is short on imagination, the man uses human judgment and alertness to avoid these traps. At one suspicious-looking spot on the

shoulders were narrow for his height; likewise, his head was small for his tall body. Added to this were Peter's noticeable facial tics, and he may have suffered from petit mal, a form of epilepsy. Early reign Peter implemented sweeping reforms aimed at modernizing Russia. Heavily influenced by his advisors from Western Europe, Peter reorganized the Russian army along modern lines and dreamed of making Russia a maritime power. He faced much opposition to these policies at home but brutally suppressed rebellions against his authority, including by the Streltsy, Bashkirs, Astrakhan, and the greatest civil uprising of his reign, the Bulavin Rebellion. Peter implemented social modernization in an absolute manner by introducing French and western dress to his court and requiring courtiers, state officials, and the military to shave their beards and adopt modern clothing styles. One means of achieving this end was the introduction of taxes for long beards and robes in September 1698

called the results of industrialisation ,,the rape of the land". The tragedy of the town started when the indians who naively imagined that the land was theres, allowed the white man to use this land. The white man divided the land into squares and plots which are sold and bough for the slaves in africa. The indians were driven away from the land. The indians refused to be slaves, black men from africa were imported for slavery. Faulkner understands that they are treated brutally, he is not a radical, he warns the government against the interference, he thinks that southerners must work out their own solution, the negro problem. After the war the slavery was eliminated, but they would still think of them as lower people. The best chance of finding a solution was a return to nature. They thought that nature might help regain human values. Faulkner reflected the southern myth, he presents it through the minds and thoughts of

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

Sincerity and easy in use of melody are the charming features of his music. The Symphony is multicoloured in its sound quality. The composer has convincingly aimed at the Estonian national spirit.1 After the crisis years, cultural life in Estonia continued to progress. In the last years of what has been called “the period of silence” the move towards the restoration of democracy continued. Yet this process was too slow to be completed before 1940 when the whole situation was brutally changed. The Estonian political course was unavoidably influenced by the great powers in the West and East, but realising the importance of neutrality in the pre-war atmosphere, the government stuck to that policy. 1 Eesti muusika II (Estonian Music II) (Tallinn: Eesti Raamat, 1975) 248-249. Everything valuable for the national culture was supported. The creative work of the artists was manifold. Estonian literature reached its maturity. The works of

Then he collapsed, the mattress jolting as he bounced off of it. "Gideon." I reached for the bedside lamp, my throat burning. I couldn't reach it, had to throw the tangled blankets off to get closer. Gideon was writhing in agony, thrashing so violently he shook the bed. The room lit up in a sudden flare of illumination. I turned toward him... And found him masturbating with shocking viciousness. His right hand gripped his cock with white knuckled force, pumping brutally fast. His left hand clenched the fitted sheet. Torment and pain twisted his beautiful face. Fearing for his safety, I shoved his shoulder with both hands. "Gideon, goddamn it. Wake up! " My scream broke through the nightmare. His eyes flew open and he jerked upright, his eyes darting frantically. "What?" he gasped, his chest heaving. His face was flushed, his lips and cheeks red with arousal. "What is it?" "Jesus
