Akon

When he was only 15, he recorded his first song, Operations of Nature. Shortly afterward, Akon was arrested for armed robbery and drug distribution charges. Being in prison did not prevent Akon from working on his music career, however, if anything it gave him more time to perfect it. When Akon was released he continued to write and record songs at his home, and was eventually discovered by SRC/Universal, who liked his distinct vocals and Southern beats. His debut album Trouble was released in June 2004. Akon was off to a great start after the singles Locked up, Lonely, and Ghetto became huge hits in the U.S., UK, Australia, and Germany. Although Trouble was a popular album, it was Akon's collaboration with other artists that really brought him into the limelight. In 2005 Akon was featured in Young Jeezy's song, Soul Survivor which appeared on the top five list of the Billboard Hot 100.

Johnny Get's Hitched... Cash's next release for Sun Records had a significant increase with "Cry,Cry,Cry"cracking the Billboard's Top 20 and peaking at No. 14. Than along came what we all know Cash by today; "I walk the Line" topping at the No.1 position for 43 weeks! This album sold of two million copies with other big hits including "So Doggone Lonesome" and my favorite "Folsom Prison Blues." Johnny's dream lived on as the fans grew along with his fame and fortune. In 1956 he was invited to perform on the Grand Ole Opry. By 1957 Cash had a handful of remarkable hits and the following years made the decision to switch to Columbia Records in search of more artistic freedom; still longing for gospel Mr. Cash Get's Famous... records.

Other artists such as Tupac Shakur (a.k.a. 2Pac), who would start his rapping career in 1991, would dominate in the 90s (before being shot and killed in a drive-by in 1996) becoming the highest selling rapper ever with over 75,000,000 albums sold world wide and played a major role in the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry having beefs with East Coast rappers The Notorious B.I.G. (a.k.a. Biggie)

Robert "Bob" Nesta Marley OM (February 6, 1945 ­ May 11, 1981) was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, guitarist, and activist. He is the most widely known performer of reggae music.
