They recorded only a few demos, when they got a contract with Lava Records. They gained a lot of attention with their first hit "I'm Just a Kid". Bands first album, "No Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls", rose to the top of charts on 19th March 2002, on the day it was released. Over 2 million copies of that record were sold. Simple Plan has performed with very many bands, beginning with Rancid and ending with Aerosmith. They have also taken part in three Vans Warped tours, whereas in two of them they were the main performers and they have won MTV Video Music Awards. In 2003, Pierre and Chuck spent a lot time in Vancouver, writing songs for their next album. The producer of that album was Bob Rock, a man, who has also produced some of Metallica's and Bon Jovi's greatest albums. That album was called "Still Not Getting Any". Those eleven songs proved that Simple Plan is not a punk band, not a pop or rock band; it's just a band,

A snow line is the point above which snow and ice cover the ground throughout the year. The actual snow line may seasonally be significantly lower. 9. What is treeline (timberline)? The treeline is the zone where conditions become too harsh to support growth as large as trees. When viewing a mountain from the side, this line is visible as the place where forests stop and snow, ice and rock begin. Sometimes there is a transition called the krumholtz line, where trees become stunted and warped before disappearing entirely as the altitude increases. 10. Name traditional human activities in tundra and polar desert areas. Polar desert: Few direct threats exist for this ecoregion, simply because humans are largely absent. But where humans have tread, this ecoregion has suffered. Plans for a northern shipping route through the Russian Arctic could open up oil, gas, and other natural resources for exploitation. This could increase the risk of oil spills and
[329] With punk rock's renewed visibility came concerns among some in the punk community that the music was being co-opted by the mainstream.[324] They argued that by signing to major labels and appearing on MTV, punk bands like Green Day were buying into a system that punk was created to challenge.[330] Such controversies have been part of the punk culture since 1977, when The Clash was widely accused of "selling out" for signing with CBS Records.[331] The Vans Warped Tour and the mall chain store Hot Topic brought punk even further into the U.S. mainstream.[332] By early 1998, the punk revival had commercially stalled, but not for long. That November, The Offspring's Americana on the major Columbia label debuted at number two on the album chart. A bootleg MP3 of its first single, "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)", made it on to the Internet and was downloaded a record 22 million times--illegally.[336] The following year, Enema of the State, the

(values statement), "Where do we fit in all of this?" (mission statement). For schools it means looking at change seriously in terms of its demands. It means looking at the box, cracked and warped because of the contents, and asking oneself: "How can we completely redesign this thing to be consistent with the challenges faced?" "If we were to start fresh from the ground up to reconstruct schools today for the 21st century, in what way would our they be different from what they presently are, in order to meet the new demands of change?" With this information in hand, the third method necessitates examining

"She was always in the dark, that's why she didn't remember." "I know. She understands now." His voice was even, but his face was black with fury. I tried to reach his face with my free hand, but something stopped me. I glanced down to see the IV pulling at my hand. "Ugh." I winced. "What is it?" he asked anxiously -- distracted, but not enough. The bleakness did not entirely leave his eyes. "Needles," I explained, looking away from the one in my hand. I concentrated on a warped ceiling tile and tried to breathe deeply despite the ache in my ribs. "Afraid of a needle," he muttered to himself under his breath, shaking his head. "Oh, a sadistic vampire, intent on torturing her to death, sure, no problem, she runs off to meet him. An IV, on the other hand..." I rolled my eyes. I was pleased to discover that this reaction, at least, was pain-free. I decided to change the subject. "Why are you here?" I asked. He stared at me, first confusion and then hurt touching his eyes
German culture seems ambivalent about the term "hero." T h e hero has a long tradition of veneration in Germany, but two W o r l d Wars and the legacy of Hitler and the N a z i s have tainted the concept. N a z i s m and German militarism manipulated and distorted the powerful symbols of the hero myth, invoking its passions to en slave, dehumanize, and destroy. Like any archetypal system, like any philosophy or creed, the heroic form can be warped and used with great effect for ill intention. In the p o s t - H i t l e r period the idea of hero has been given a rest as the cul ture re-evaluates itself. Dispassionate, cold-blooded anti-heroes are more in keeping with the current German spirit. A tone of unsentimental realism is more popular at present, although there will always be a strain of romanticism and love of fantasy. Germans can enjoy imaginative hero tales from other cultures but don't seem com
