personality crisis in this book. It is truly a mind-blowing experience to imagine everything as .vividly as has been described in the book When Death first came to Mort, he offered Mort a job. Maintaining his cruel and calm posture, Death appeared to be just like he has been imagined in novels and movies alike. However, as Mort gets to spend more time with Death, he starts to notice some quirks about him, something .that a mortal would not even dare to wonder about Apparently Death has a daughter. Not biologically, of course, but he had adopted her at an early age. Also, he has a butler called Albert. Now why would Death need a daughter and a butler? Was it so that he could maintain some actual human relations? To take things further, he had
community. While most people would tell you that a life without laughter, music, and dance would be unbearable, it’s easy to take these experiences for granted. Marge Veskemaa This book show us another way. These research participants highlight the need for us to embrace our own uniqueness, our own little imperfections and quirks – the things that make us who we are. It is by following this path of authenticity and individualism that we can hope to become happy. In this book of The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown you’ll discover why everything looks better when you zoom out; why you should devote a decent portion of your life to play; and why you should define yourself with slashes.
occurred. If the ISR reads the index position, and the interrupt happens in the middle of another command, the non-ISR code will get garbage data. Figure 7.33 illustrates this. To avoid this condition, the software should disable interrupts around non-ISR code (or interruptible ISR code) that accesses the LM628/9. These restrictions are typical but not unique to the LM628/9. There are other motor controller ICs available as well, and all have their quirks. The MC2300 series from Precision Motion Devices (PMD) is a two-chip set that can control up to four brushless DC motors. These parts can control two- or three-phase brushless motors and can provide several motion profiles. The MC2300 can provide a digital word for a DAC/amplifier driver, or PWM outputs for an H-bridge. The MC2100 series, also from PMD, is a two-chip set for brushed DC motors. Like the MC2300, the MC2100 parts support 1 to 4 motors, have 32-
some ways and despicable in others, can be very appealing. Ideally, every well-rounded character should manifest a touch of every archetype, because the archetypes are expressions of the parts that make up a complete personality. CHARACTER FLAWS Interesting flaws humanize a character. W e can recognize bits of ourselves in a Hero who is challenged to overcome inner doubts, errors in thinking, guilt or trauma from the past, or fear of the future. Weaknesses, imperfections, quirks, and vices im mediately make a Hero or any character more real and appealing. It seems the more neurotic characters are, the more the audience likes them and identifies with them. Flaws also give a character somewhere to go — the so-called "character arc" in which a character develops from condition A to condition Z through a series of steps. Flaws are a starting point of imperfection or incompleteness from which a character can grow. T h e y may be deficiencies in a character
" "I'm right there with you." "But I like sex." "Good. Have it with me." His smile was an erotic invitation. I shoved his shoulder. "I need a personal connection with the men I sleep with. It doesn't have to be intense or deep, but sex needs to be more than an emotionless transaction for me." "Why?" I could tell he wasn't being flippant. As bizarre as this conversation must be for him, Gideon was taking it seriously. "Call it one of my quirks, and I'm not saying that lightly. It pisses me off to feel used for sex. I feel devalued." "Can't you look at it as you using me for sex?" "Not with you." He was too forceful, too demanding. A sizzling, predatory glimmer sparked in his eyes as I bared my weakness for him. "Besides," I went on quickly, "that's semantics. I need an equal exchange in my sexual relationships. Or to have the upper hand." "Okay." "Okay
