decided that it could not afford to let Germany win. In the 1940s it became the leader of the West and organized an alliance of the democracies. Today it is the only superpower left in the world. Tensions between American colonials and the British during the revolutionary period of the 1760s and early 1770s led to the American Revolutionary War. On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress, convening in Philadelphia, established a Continental Army under the command of George Washington. Proclaiming that "all men are created equal" and endowed with "certain unalienable Rights," the Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, drafted largely by Thomas Jefferson, on July 4, 1776. This meant war. Britain lost the war and lost America. It recognized the United States as a separate country in 1783. The population of the USA is about 270 million people. They are called Americans. Most of the people live in towns. In America there are the

rights movement; they voted for Senator Harry F. Byrd, Sr. of Virginia. Vietnam The extent of Kennedy's involvement in Vietnam remained classified until the release of the Pentagon Papers in 1971.In Southeast Asia, Kennedy followed Eisenhower's lead by using limited military action as early as 1961 to fight the Communist forces led by Ho Chi Minh. Proclaiming a fight against the spread of Communism, Kennedy enacted policies providing political, economic, and military support for the unstable French-installed South Vietnamese government, which included sending 16,000 military advisors and U.S. Special Forces to the area. Kennedy also authorized the use of free-fire zones, napalm, defoliants, and jet planes. U.S. involvement in the area escalated until Lyndon Johnson, his successor, directly deployed regular U.S. forces for fighting the Vietnam War

the development of reggae. Bob Marley became the leading proponent of the Rastafari, taking their music out of the socially deprived areas of Jamaica and onto the international music scene. Now considered a "Rasta" legend, Marley's adoption of the characteristic Rastafari dreadlocks, famous use of cannabis as a sacred sacrament, and vegetarianism [8], which in the late sixties were an integral part of his persona. He is said to have entered every performance proclaiming the divinity of Jah Rastafari. On November 4, 1980 Marley was baptized by the Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Kingston, Jamaica. Here is what Archbishop Abuna Yesehaq had to say on Marley: "Bob was really a good brother, a child of God, regardless of how people looked at him. He had a desire to be baptised long ago, but there were people close to him who controlled him and who were aligned to a different aspect of Rastafari . But he came to Church regularly. I

Most of the countries of Europe wanted to get land in America so they all made colonys there and started to bring there African slaves. George Washington was the first president of the United States of America.

Education

Inclusiveness-new wineskins to handle the new wine of diversity. In the end this may only be possible through technology. Michael Crichton, in Disclosure, brings out this possibility, when he suggests that, technological firms today are "selling" what both religion and revolution have promised but have not been able to deliver-freedom!-freedom from the body, freedom from race, gender, country and nationality. Religion has been a force that, while proclaiming the oneness of the human creation, has been the most pervasive factor in society in creating and maintaining exclusion. Revolutions have been no better, proclaiming the need for change, but often ending up as the biggest opponents of change. Technology will move education "from print to digital displays to virtual environments." Thus, computer technology may very well be the means by which to bring about a restructuring of society, with a level playing field for all. Conclusion:

the most expensive piece of clothing ever sold at auction. It has been claimed that Monroe was involved with both Robert Kennedy, and John F. Kennedy.[34] Jeanne Carmen, who claimed to have been a friend of Monroe's, also claimed she dated both.[34] Joe DiMaggio told both his son and attorney that "the Kennedys killed her."[41] Death and aftermath Main article: Death of Marilyn Monroe LAPD police sergeant Jack Clemmons received a call at 4:25AM on August 5, 1962 from Dr. Hyman Engelberg proclaiming that Marilyn Monroe was dead at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California. Sergeant Clemmons was the first Police officer to arrive at the death scene.[42] Many questions remain unanswered about the circumstances of her death and the timeline from when Monroe's body was found. The official cause of her death was classified, by Dr. Thomas Noguchi of the Los Angeles County Coroners office, as a case of "acute barbiturate poisoning". Bowl tickets would bias the opinions of "sober, conscientious" government offi- cials. As the head of one lobbying organization insisted, there is no cause for con- cern because "These [government officials] are smart, mature, sophisticated men and women at the top of their professions, disposed by training to be discerning, critical, and alert" (Barker, 1998). And, of course, the politicians concur. Regularly, we hear them proclaiming total independence from the feelings of obligation that in- fluence everyone else. One of my own state representatives left no room for doubt when describing his accountability to gift-givers, "It gets them exactly what it gets everybody else: nothing" (Foster, 1991). Excuse me if I, as a scientist, laugh. Sober, conscientious scientists know better. One reason they know better is that these "smart, mature, sophisticated men and

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

The art scene had become quite active and a new generation was rising to the fore. The painter Malle Leis (b. 1940) depicted the world and people as a decorative integrity in effective bright colouring. Jüri Arrak (b. 1936) often tends towards humour and the unexpected grotesque in his vision of the world. Peeter Ulas (b. 1934), an expressive and vigorous illustrator and graphic artist was searching for free composition and formal realisation. Artists turned also to the avant-garde, proclaiming the aesthetic value of the work to be the decisive one: Jüri Arrak, Malle Leis, Tõnis Vint (b. 1942), and others. Contacts with Western countries widened, at first with the nearest neighbours. The shipping route between Tallinn and Helsinki was reopened in 1964, enabling mutual visits and contacts with Western intellectuals and artists. At the beginning of the Sixties, Finnish television programmes became available in Tallinn, and subsequently in Northern Estonia.
