tulid õuele peremehetsema.Õpilaste jaoks samuti pinnuks silmas oli köster, kes igat pahategu veelgi võimendas.Köster paljus vastandus õpetaja Lauriga, kuna ta oli tüse, vanem ja range ning kõik pidi tal kindlalt nööri mööda jooksma.Seevastu õpetaja Laur oli õpilastega südamlikum ja leidis rahulikult lahendusi.Laurile oli tähtis õpilaste ausus, visadus.Niisiis oli õpetaja Lauril hea õpetaja staatus ja Köstril pigem halva. “Kevade“ kuus possi olid üsna erinevad, võiks öelda, et Arno ja Toots olid vastanlikud tegelased.Arno oli „korralik“ ja ta oli valmis teisi aitama ning talle tähtsaks kohaks oli kodu, ta oli usin ja mõtlik poiss.Toots aga tegeles vempudega ja temas ei olnud tõsidust.Tõnisson oli paks ja ta põhiliseks tegevuseks oli söömineÜldiselt poisid konflikte ei kartnud ja läksid kambavaimuga kaasa.Tüdrukud olid rohkem pealtvaatajad kui ise asjade algatajad.Teele oli natuke nipsakas ja

Andresel oli Pearust rammu rohkem. Pearu kiitis Krõõta, et tubli naine.*Kui Krõõt rasedaks jäi, sündis tal tütar. Andres oli possi tahtnud, kuid selgus, et Krõõdal sündis veel kaks tütart ja Krõõt oli selle pärast väga kurb. Andres oli tahtnud poissi, sest muidu poleksgi mõtet Vargamäel midagi teha. Ainult siis on kui see jääb omade kätte. Alles neljas laps oli poiss ja Krõõt suri varsti pärast sünnitust.
