or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological." The FBI uses this: "Terrorism is the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives." The U.S. Department of State defines "terrorism" to be "premeditated politically-motivated violence perpetrated against non-combatant targets by sub- national groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience." Terrorism is a criminal act that influences an audience beyond the direct victim. The strategy of terrorists is to commit acts of violence that draws the attention of the local population, the government, and the world to their cause. The terrorists plan their attack to achieve the greatest publicity, choosing targets that symbolize what they oppose
a new cathedral, where virtually all English monarchs from William the Conqueror onward would be crowned. It was determined that the minster should not be built in London, and so a place was found to the west of the city (hence "Westminster"). The new church was consecrated at Christmas, 1065, but Edward could not attend due to illness. Some say, probably correctly, that Edward was a weak, but violent man and that his reputation for saintliness was overstated, possibly a sham perpetrated by the monks of Westminster in the twelfth century. Others seem to think that he was deeply religious man and a patient and peaceable ruler. Having warded off political threats, England during the last 15 years of Edward's reign was peaceful and prosperous with a growing population. He died at the age of 64 and was buried in the Abbery he had constructed at Westminster. Edward was canonized in 1161 by Pope Alexander III. His feast day is October 13.

Man made “God” in his own image. The eternal, the infinite, and unnameable was reduced to a mental idol that you had to believe in and worship as “my god” or “our god.” And yet… and yet… in spite of all the insane deeds perpetrated in the name of religion, the Truth to which they point still shines at their core. It still shines, however dimly, through layers upon layers of distortion and misinterpretation. It is unlikely, however, that you will be able to perceive it there unless you have at least already had glimpse of that Truth within yourself.
