With good weather, a pilot is able to soar for hours. The measure of performance is the glide ratio for example a ratio of 12:1 means that a glider can travel forward 12 meters while only losing 1 meter of altitude. Average glide ratio is 17:1 20:1 and average speed is 45-55 km/h. Early forms of gliding had existed in China perhaps by the 4th century AD. Competitions started with "flying as long as possible" and spot landings. With increasing performance cross-country flying replaced them. Usually two to four waypoints have to be passed with a landing at a goal. Nowadays every two years there is a world championship. The Rigid and Women's World Championship in 2006 was hosted by Florida. Texas hosted the 2007 World Championship. Cliff Diving Cliff diving is jumping from a platform that is usually a simple clearing along the cliff above a river, ocean or lake.

Referaat Spanish California

Spanish California Sten Endrik Mihkelsoo MM-14 California's contact with Europeans began in the mid 1530s when Cortez's men ventured to Baja California. Not until 1542 did Spaniards sail north to Alta California, and Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo's expedition of that year made landings as far north as modern Santa Barbara. The Spaniards, of course, were hardly the first to discover this land of wonder and extremes. The earliest Californians were adventurous Asians who made their way across the Bering Straits to Alaska thousands of years ago when a warmer climate and a now-vanished land bridge made such travel easier. These men and women and their descendants settled North and South America, spreading out to form the various nations and tribes

The Battle of Singapore was fought in the South-East Asian area in World War II when Japan invaded Singapore. It resulted in the fall of Singapore--the major British military base in South East Asia--to the Japanese, and the largest surrender of British-led military personnel in history. *D-Day 1944, Operation Overlord was the code name for the invasion of northwest Europe during World War II by Allied forces. The operation began with the Normandy Landings on June 6, 1944, commonly known as D-Day. Allied land forces that saw combat in Normandy on D-Day itself came from Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Other Allied nations participated in the naval and air forces. A three-week military buildup occurred on the beaches before Operation Cobra, the operation to break out from the Normandy beachhead began. The German retreat across the Seine was completed on 30 August 1944.

scrambled order in a classified book. They cross-checked these to eliminate any conflicts with British codenames. Then they assigned blocks of codenames to theater commanders. In theory the codenames bore no relation, either by denotation or connotation, to what they stood for. In the majority of cases this held in practice. FLINTLOCK meant the Allied attack on the Marshall Islands in 1944; AVALANCHE, the amphibious attack on Salerno; ANVIL, later DRAGOON, the Anglo-American landings in the soft underbelly of France. Even relatively small operations were dubbed: the relief of Australians trapped in Tobruk was SUPERCHARGE, the occupation of the Canary Islands was PILGRIM. Some codenames were written in blood: OMAHA, UTAH, GOLD, SWORD, and JUNO, for the Normandy beaches of D-Day. The allied codename selections were sometimes constrained by principles that that master of English, Winston Churchill laid down in a memorandum of August 8, 1943:

The legs aren't elevated above 50 degrees (relative to the floor) because it would involve the shoulders more than the pectorals. For pure runners, the exercise is for general pectoral work, rather than for the purpose of the sport. The pectorals are just about the only muscle group not stimulated by the deadlift, which follows. 3. The idea is to keep ground contact as short as possible on each landing, six landings maximum. In Barry's training sessions, these jumps are sometimes onto a box, sometimes over a box, and standing triple jump or broad jump can also be substituted. Personally, to keep it simple, I used a standard flat bench and tapped both feet on the top (rather than landing) before returning to the ground, repeating six times. 4. Also referred to as "turnover." 5. Lamar appears to be slightly rounding his back in his photos, but it's his thoracic (upper back) spine and not his lumbar
