In one study of cosmetologists who used formaldehyde based disinfectant products as well as other chemicals a slight excess of spontaneous abortions is reported, but that finding could not be linked to any chemical exposure. Formaldehyde exposure levels were not reported in these studies. Low birth weight was not statistically significant associated with formaldehyde exposure in a population-based epidemiological study.
