The connecting rod is made of forged steel and provided with bearing caps of nodular iron for the crosshead bearing and crankpin bearing. An oil hole is bored through the center of the rod to allow passage of lubricating oil between the bearings. The crosshead bearing transmits the full gas load from the piston to the connecting rod and crankshaft. The crosshead is designed as a center part with a bearing journal fitted at each end, on which the guide shoes are fitted.
