An American college is an institution of higher learning which lasts over a four year period and which grants/gives Bachelor's degree at the conclusion of studies. The students may gain a Master's degree within a year or two of further study. After another year or two of study and research they may gain a still higher degree of study and research as Doctor of Philosophy. Students of the establishment of higher education are freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. A freshman is a first-year student, a sophomore a second- year student, a junior a third-year student and a senior a fourth-year student. Higher education in Estonia is basically the same. We have collages and universities, where students are provided with closer education. After students have achieve to graduate, they also get diploma or some sort of degree, depends of school and which degree they were studying for.
