It was made from wool or a wool/linen combination and twill woven in a pattern of colored stripes which today has become known as tartan, though originally the word tartan referred to the type of cloth (like linen, or cotton) and not the pattern of colors as the word almost exclusively signifies today. At nearly every Highland Games gathering today, there are vendors who sell tartan items, whether kilts, blankets, scarves, ties, or tartan fabric. Few people live in the north of Scotland. Some of them speak the Scottish Gaelic language. Most of the people live in the Lowlands. Farmers in Scotland keep a lot of sheep on the hillsides. All true Scots belong to a clan or a tribe. Each of them has their own tartan. Its a traditional woollen cloth over the shoulder. Men in Scotland wear kilts. Nowadays there are a lot of tartan shops in Scotland, which sell cloth, kilts, scarves, bags, travelling rugs, and dresses in tartan patterns. Sometimes they offer people the service of finding out which part of Scotland their great-grand parents came from. Scotland's greatest poet Robert Burns, who's dead by now, had his birthday th on 25 January. People celebrate that day by having Burns' Night Dinner. On that night people drink whisky, eat typical Scottish food such as haggis and listen to bagpipe music

But it sparked the establishment of a secret- ink subsection whose expert chemists could detect writing in an invisible ink disguised as a perfume with an actual odor and with only one part in 10,000 of solid matter. The Germans later replaced inks in so bulky and conspicuous a form as liquids with chemicals that were impregnated into scarves, socks, and other garments.
