else the restarting throw will have to be retaken. Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed to step inside the six meter (6m) perimeter, though any player may attempt to catch and touch the ball in the air within it. If a player should find himself in contact inside the goal perimeter he must immediately take the most direct path out of it. Should a defender make contact with an attacker while in the goal perimeter, their team is penalized with a direct attempt at the goal, with only one attacker on the seven-meter line and the defending goalkeeper involved. The ball is smaller than a football in order for the players to be able to hold and handle it with a single hand (though contact with both hands is perfectly allowed). A player may only hold the ball for three seconds and may only take three steps with the ball in hand. After taking three steps the player will have to make a dribble with one hand in order to
anyway." In addition, it is argued that freely obtaining a digital copy of something does not have any impact because a tangible, physical item is not being stolen. Thus, it is a seemingly victimless crime. Last, file sharers argue that the content that they are freely stealing is not worth the price. Perhaps they consider a certain piece of software, for example, to be poorly written. Supporters profess that software companies should be penalized for distributing low quality software with what they consider high price tags. Another closely related line of reasoning is the idea that they are merely "testing" the product before they purchase it; in essence, they are exercising their own "try before you buy" policy. Those that are in opposition argue that file sharing does indeed have a negative impact economically. According to the Motion Picture Association of America, in 2005, MPAA studios lost $2
to the scoring system in use (BLAST 2.0 defaults). Gap: A space introduced into an alignment to compensate for insertions and deletions in one sequence relative to another. To prevent the accumulation of too many gaps in an alignment, introduction of a gap causes the deduction of a fixed amount (the gap score) from the alignment score. Extension of the gap to encompass additional nucleotides or amino acid is also penalized in the scoring of an alignment. d. Audiences hate that. Punishment should fit the crime and have the quality of poetic justice. In other words, the way the villain dies or gets his just comeuppance should directly relate to his sins. Heroes should get what's coming to them as well. Too many movie heroes get rewards they haven't really earned. T h e reward should be proportionate to the sacrifice they have offered. You don't get immortality for being nice. Also if heroes have failed to learn a lesson, they may be penalized for it in the Return. O f course, if your dramatic point of view is that life isn't fair and you feel justice is a rare thing in this world, then by all means reflect this in the way rewards and punishments are dealt out in the Return. T H E ELIXIR T h e real key to the final stage of the Hero's Journey is the Elixir. W h a t does the hero bring back with her from the Special W o r l d to share upon her Return? W h e t h e r it's
