Sellist lähenemist nimetatakse ajalooliseks konstruktsiooniks. Ajaloolise konstruktsiooniga hakkas tegelema Türgi päritolu antropoloogist filmitegija Asen Balikci. Ameerikas loodi haridusprogramm Macos, mille raames oli plaan hakata juba põhikoolist alates õpetama sotsiaalteaduste põhikonseptsioone ja antropoloogiat läbi eksootiliste filmide. Balikci sidus end selle projektiga ning hakkas netsilike eskimodest filme tegema. Filmimine toimus Kanada arktilises osas Pelly Bay´s. Balicki toetus filmi tehes Knut Rasmusseni uurimustele. Netsilike elu kujutati nii nagu see kunagi oli olnud ilma vintpüssita (nt hülge küttimine oli olnud kollektiivne töö, aga vintpüssi tulekuga muutus see individuaalseks). Tänu vintpüssile oli võimalik pidada rohkem koeri, sest toitu oli rohkem ja mida rohkem koeri seda pikemaid vahemaid sai läbida. Eskimod paiknesid nüüd ümber katoliku misjonäride poolt rajatud kaubapunktide, samanism oli välja tõrjutud
