respected him. She believed that all of the dead were in a state of equality. When faced with the decision to obey the King or obey her heart, she says on page 23, in lines 86-90: "I will bury him myself./If I die for doing that, good:/I will stay with him, brother;/and my crime will be devotion." This decision, to bury her brother, was very heroic in that even though she knew death was at stake, she knew where her loyalties lied. On page 39, lines 560-575, Antigone stands up to her uncle and tells him to his face that he has disobeyed the Gods decrees. In line 562, 563, and 564 she says: "I did not intend to pay, before the gods,/for breaking these laws/because of my fear of one man and his principles." Antigone accuses Kreon of overstepping the laws of the gods, by relying on his own thinking. As is brought out later, Kreon never listened to other peoples advice until it was too late. In the above

stories of adventure and fortune in battle. Desdemona merely overheard his incredible stories and requests a private recount of the stories again, a scenario that causes her to fall in love with Othello. The Duke agrees with Othello’s assessment, that his stories would win the heart of any woman, and decides that Brabantio’s claims are unlikely. Desdemona arrives and confirms the decision by stating that she married of her own free will and for love, and that her loyalties have shifted from her father to her husband. Returning to the military matter on which the scene opened, the Duke tells Othello that his presence is required in Cyprus to defend against the Turks. Desdemona decides she will go with him and they leave to prepare for their journey. After the clearing of the stage, Iago and Roderigo once again discuss Roderigo’s failed attempts to woo Desdemona. Iago assures him that hope is not lost and repeatedly convinces him that he

Eventually, the Frankish kings subjugated the Frisians and the Saxons and converted them to Christianity. By 800 the entire territory of the Netherlands was part of the realm of Charlemagne. After Charlemagne died, his empire disintegrated, and in 843 the Treaty of Verdun divided the empire into three parts. The Netherlands became part of Lotharingia (Lorraine) and still later, in 925, part of the Holy Roman Empire. At that time a Dutch nation did not exist, and the immediate loyalties of the inhabitants were to local lords. Gradually over the next centuries the whole region came to be called the Low Countries, or Netherlands, including present-day Belgium. “Privileged cells” - prisoners given uniforms and beds back, allowed to wash and brush teeth, and allowed to eat food in front of other prisoners that were denied food temporarily (those least involved in the rebellion were given these cells) After half a day, the guards switched the good prisoners back into the bad cells and put the bad prisoners in the good cells to thoroughly confuse them...this also served to break the solidarity of the prisoners and make them question each others’ loyalties (were they informers?) Prisoners also were denied the right to use the bathroom; after “lights out” at 10pm, they had to use the bathroom in a bucket and were sometimes denied the right to empty it out Vang Nr 8612  Prisoner #8612 began suffering from acute emotional disturbance.  He wanted to leave but Zimbardo reacted like a prison governor.
