Üldine 1.1 Keelkond: Kuulub austroneesia keelkonda, Põhja-Uus-Guinea keelte hulka (Põhja ... s.a). 1.2 Piirkond ja kõnelejate arv: Kairiru keelt räägitakse Kairiru, Karesau ja You saarel, Mushu saare põhja- ja lääneosas (Wivell, 1981: 1); kõnelejaid on 3 200 (Paul jt 2015). 1.3 Kirjaviis ja murded: kirjutatakse ladina tähtedega. Wivelli (1981: 191) järgi on kümme murret (koragur, shagur, rumlal, serasin, shem, yiwun, sup, maram, yuo ja worn). Uuemate andmete loetelus teadaolevaid murdeid ei esine (Paul jt 2015). 2.
