Modern Hero

Modern Hero

hero have changed. Centuries ago a hero was reckoned to be someone with super human courage, abnormal powers or with abilities to use magic items. A hero used to be somebody who fought magical creatures of evil and conniving kings or lords. A past hero usually saved the world from being ruled by evil forces (Eragon) or a clan from being destroyed (Beowulf killed Grendel and his mother to help the village). A hero like that was respected by the elderly people and always glorified by his family (in case they were still alive at the end of the story). It used to take a long journey and a fascinating victory to be recognized as a hero but nowadays it has become much easier. We give the title "hero" away much faster and there is actually no surprise to that- there aren't really any monsters left to fight or people to fight them. For example we share the title every evening on TV news (TV3 Eestimaa uhkus) to people who have done a good act. It has both-cons and pluses

ABOUT SERIAL KILLERS

They have been subject to psychiatric evaluation, but only 20% received psychiatric treatment. Many of them are employed in stable jobs. One thing that is not consistent is motive. The most common motives are theft, revenge, and sex, but the range within those motives is vast. CONCLUSION Serial killing is surprisingly common, and unsurprisingly disturbing. Popular media 2 has sensationalized and glorified the killers themselves, giving them yet another motive: fame. One of the reasons I didn't go into depth or detail about all of the various serial killers is for this reason - to keep your eyes on how horrible and tragic it is. We shouldn't romanticize serial killers, or their victims. It might be better if we forgot the name of Gilles de Rais or Adam Lanza. Thank you for your attention. WORKS CITIED 1. "Serial." Jacques Louis David ja Prantsuse Revolutsioon

That is why he went to Pompeii for an expedition, in order to best represent the classicism requirements. David painted carefully all the contours and forms of the human body, because he started to imitate Antique sculptures. Moreover, David and Classicism in general were not limited to only mimicking the external form of the Antique, but also the plot was often borrowed from the Antique literature or mythology. Best suited were the subjects that glorified bravery, loyalty, love for the fatherland and other virtues. Paintings were supposed to be instructive and fight against vices. (Leesi, 2003, p.115) As a matter of fact, the whole life of Jacques-Louis David was somehow connected to political change and therefore David was left with no other choice than to be a part of the French Revolution. In 1780 David returned to Paris and a few years later he exhibited his masterpiece Oath of the Horatii in the Salon
