Which is more important-sport or science?

I will tell you where, in the most expensive and comfortable accommodation available on board the vessels that will disembark our planet. Just then to the reader this article may have taken a turn toward some sort of science fiction that they may think is far beyond anything they will ever have to care about. But the truth is we are almost at the point of no return. It seems in this we are distracting ourselves from the seeming inevitability of our fate by becoming so engrossed in the pursuit of sporting "glory" so as to forget the importance of the pursuit of scientific research and its goals. The many important branches of research involved with the future technologies of humanity dwarf the importance of sporting trophies and achievements in such a way that sports becomes relative to the size of a gnat to an elephant. How long will we continue to delude ourselves about the importance of sports and its

The effect of modern technology on our everyday life

They do not play together anymore like we used to do, then we were young. They do not know, how to communicate, because they saw only computers, laptops or mobile phones since they were little. The aviation technology, automobiles and other vehicles, releasing unwanted green house gases into the environment, are creating serious environmental problems and pollution and some of them, health problems for their workers. The more time people are spending engrossed in video games, talking to friends online and watching videos, they are spending less time being active or exercising. This lifestyle can bring to obesity, and it, in turn, can lead to serious health problems and even to death. Technology has the negative effects on sleep habits. People do online activities that keep them up too late; information stream, that passes through people`s brains, can make it difficult to turn off our brains and go to sleep.

would benefit. He goes home to begin working on this revolutionary project which would grant everyone full partnership in the land. Later on, Nicholas comes to Levin at home, sicker than ever. His death is imminent. Levin grows depressed and takes comfort in the fact that maybe his work can save him from death. "Levin said what he had genuinely been thinking of late. He saw nothing but death or the advance toward death in everything. But his cherished scheme only engrossed him all the more. Life had to be got through somehow till death did come. Darkness had fallen, upon everything for him; but just because of this darkness he felt that the one guiding clue in the darkness was his work, and he clutched it and clung to it with all his strength." In this way, work is life itself for Levin. Part 4, Chapters 1-15 These are the chapters where Vronsky and Karenin finally come eye to eye, both knowing what they know

listened to with much more pleasure, though not playing half so well; and Mary, at the end of a long concerto, was glad to purchase praise and gratitude by Scotch and Irish airs, at the request of her younger sisters, who, with some of the Lucases, and two or three officers, joined eagerly in dancing at one end of the room. Mr. Darcy stood near them in silent indignation at such a mode of passing the evening, to the exclusion of all conversation, and was too much engrossed by his thoughts to perceive that Sir William Lucas was his neighbour, till Sir William thus began: "What a charming amusement for young people this is, Mr. Darcy! There is nothing like dancing after all. I consider it as one of the first refinements of polished society." "Certainly, sir; and it has the advantage also of being in vogue amongst the less polished societies of the world. Every savage can dance." Sir William only smiled

As the train approached Tottenham Court Road Station, she stood up and walked toward the door with still no break in the stream of words coming out of her mouth. That was my stop too, so I got off behind her. At street level, she began to walk toward Bedford Square, still engaged in her imaginary dialogue, still angrily accusing and asserting her position. My curiosity aroused, I decided to follow her as long as she was walking in the same general direction I had to go in. Although engrossed in her imaginary dialogue, she seemed to know where she was going. Soon we were within sight of the imposing structure of Senate House, a 1930’s high-rise, the university’s central administrative building and library. I was shocked. Was it possible that we were going to the same place? Yes, that’s’ where she was heading. Was she a teacher, student, an office worker, a librarian? Maybe she was some psychologist’s research project. I never knew the answer. I walked

" I frowned. "On the contrary, I find you very difficult to read." Despite everything that I'd said and he'd guessed, he sounded like he meant it. "You must be a good reader then," I replied. "Usually." He smiled widely, flashing a set of perfect, ultrawhite teeth. Mr. Banner called the class to order then, and I turned with relief to listen. I was in disbelief that I'd just explained my dreary life to this bizarre, beautiful boy who may or may not despise me. He'd seemed engrossed in our conversation, but now I could see, from the corner of my eye, that he was leaning away from me again, his hands gripping the edge of the table with unmistakable tension. I tried to appear attentive as Mr. Banner illustrated, with transparencies on the overhead projector, what I had seen without difficulty through the microscope. But my thoughts were unmanageable. When the bell finally rang, Edward rushed as swiftly and as gracefully from the room as he had last Monday

society, raising the educational and cultural level, and against privileges and rank. Dr. Jakob Hurt (1839-1907), pastor, theologian, folklorist and philologist, became the ideological leader of the nation and was the first president of Eesti Kirjameeste Selts (Society of Estonian Men of Letters). He outlined a wide national cultural programme to deal with the substantial cultural and educational challenges that deeply engrossed him; he was the initiator and organiser of a great collection of folklore and folk songs, and scholarly research. Jakob Hurt advocated the rights of the Estonian language in schools and official management, emphasised the importance of folklore, equal rights of all nations to existence, and the advancement of the church in the spiritual life of the nation. T h e body became alert, light, and happy, squirting fluids into the pleasure centers of the brain, "the proper pleasure" as Aristotle called it, of experi encing emotional and physical release through a well-told, cathartic tale. As we watch a good movie or are engrossed in a good novel, we actually go into an altered state of consciousness, with a measurable change in brain waves detectable by the tools of science. Perhaps changes in the rhythm of the breath, combined with focusing the attention on the imaginary world of the story, bring about this almost hypnotic effect. W h e n I started critiquing screenplays and stories for a living, I soon found that what I was really reporting was how they had triggered chemical reactions in

have been some 3,000 miles out of place." The surprise, the concentration, were engineered days before in a basement office a thousand miles from the scene of the action, where the solution of messages in JN25b (abetted by the recoveries of the other cryptanalytic units) and its internal time and place ciphers forged effects more crucial to the course of history than any other solution except that of the Zimmermann telegram. The codebreakers of the Combat Intelligence Unit had engrossed the fate of a nation. They had determined the destinies of ships and men. They had turned the tide of a war. They had caused a Rising Sun to start to set. There was no single moment when the Battle of Midway was suddenly and decisively won, and so there was no burst of wild cheering in the basement office. The cryptanalysts reacted prosaically. The unit went on a watch in three instead of a watch and watch. It was also expanding rapidly
