[3] 1975. aastal lõi Rem koos Elia ja Zoe Zenghelise ning Madelon Vriesendorpiga Londonis firma OMA (the Office for Metropolitan Architecture). [3] Praeguseks on firma laienenud üle maailma. Lisaks peakontorile Rotterdamis on kontorid veel New Yorkis, Pekingis, Hong Kongis ning Dohas (Kataris). [4] 1980ndatel töötati firmas rohkem ideede tasandil. 1978. aastal avaldas Koolhaas oma esimese raamatu ,,Delirious New York", mida on peetud ka terve modernse arhitektuuri ja ühiskonna manifestiks. Raamatusse koondas Koolhaas New Yorkis veedetud aastate jooksul tehtud Manhattani uuringu tulemused. Manifest saab põhjendatud kohe esimeste lausetega: ,,Kuidas kirjutada manifesti urbanistika jaoks, mis jääb 20. sajandisse ajal, mil tuntakse selle vastu vastikust.
