2. Hollandi üldandmed Holland ehk Madalmaad (hollandi Nederland) asub Saksamaast idapool ning Belgia Kuningriigist põhjapool. Ka Põhjameri on läänest jagamas 451.km ulatuses ühist piiri. Pindalaga 41 526 km² on inimesi elamas riigis 16 366 6003. Riigikord on tulpidemaal parlamentaarne monarhia, mis tähendab, et riigipea on kuningas või kuninganna. Hollandil on selleks kuninganna Beatrix. On olemas ka valitsuse juht, kes on olulisuselt järgmine inimene ja tema nimi on Jan Peter Balkenende. Nimi madal maa viitab sellele, et pool riigist asub merepinnast madalamal. Kuid nimi Holland tuleneb enside Hollandi provintsi nimest. Pealinn on Amsterdam, kuid valitsuse residents on Haag, mis on suuruselt kolmas linn. Arvamisele, et pealinnas lehvib Eesti Vabariigi lipp, on vale, sest tegelikult on see üleval Haagis.4 Suuruset teises linnas Rotterdamis on üks maailma suurimaid sadamaid, mille kaudu käib väga tihe kaubavahetus erinevate riikidega.
