Rational Use of Diagnostic Tests Screening tests Diagnostic tests are often used to screen asymptomatic patients and identify risk factors for occult disease. Screening tests should be generally noninvasive, inexpensive, and of minimal risk to the patient. Screening tests should have high diagnostic sensitivity, which means few false negative results would be expected, as the goal of testing is to rule out the presence of disease. Screening tests should be used to screen for diseases that (1) have serious
children, oldsters, and persons suffering from certain diseases seem to be more sensitive to artificially produced, unipolar space charges. A blood pressure reducing quality of (-), as claimed by many foreign sources, could not be confirmed by investigators in this country. Negative results of other investigators discouraged them from further studies of asthma, unfortunately, they neglected to state the type of chronic asthma which they attempted to influence in an asymptomatic stage. Another paper reporting the findings of an unsuccessful approach will be forthcoming soon. Kiirgused Ioniseerival kiirgusel on meditsiinis kaks väga erinevat kasutusala diagnostika ja ravi. Mõlemal juhul tuleb lähtuda patsiendi huvidest ja alati tuleb järgida kiirguskaitse printsiipi saadav kasu peab ületama võimaliku riski. Õigustamise printsiipi käsitlesime peatükis 6.
