Soome-Vene piir lepiti kokku Tartu rahulepinguga aastal 1920. Seadusandjad võitlesid endiselt kommunismi vastu ning suhted Soome ja Nõukogude Liidu vahel jäid pingelisteks. 10 6.5 SOOME TEISES MAAILMASÕJAS (19391945) Teise maailmasõja ajal võitles Soome Nõukogude Liidu vastu kahel korral: Talvesõjas (1939- 1940) ning Jätkusõjas (1941-1944), Operatsiooni Barbarossa käigus, kus Saksamaa väed sisenesid Nõukogude Liitu. Sellele järgnes Lapi sõda (1944-1945), mille käigus tõrjusid soomlased Põhja-Soomest välja sakslased. Nõukogude Liiduga sõlmitud lepingud aastatel 1947 ja 1948 sisaldasid Soomele mitmeid kohustusi, piiranguid ja reparatsioone, millega anti ära ka maa-alasid. Soome andis ära
