Now considered a "Rasta" legend, Marley's adoption of the characteristic Rastafari
dreadlocks, famous use of cannabis as a sacred sacrament, and vegetarianism [8], which in the
late sixties were an integral part of his persona. He is said to have entered every performance
proclaiming the divinity of Jah Rastafari.
On November 4, 1980 Marley was baptized by the Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox
Church in Kingston, Jamaica. Here is what Archbishop Abuna Yesehaq had to say on Marley:
"Bob was really a good brother, a child of God, regardless of how people looked at him. He
had a desire to be baptised long ago, but there were people close to him who controlled him
