Whati is the role of journalism in community and society Mis on ajakirjanduse roll kogukonnas? Ma arvan, et ajakirjanduse roll kogukonnas on põhiliselt see, et ta annab informatsiooni, mis toimub mujal maailmas. Näiteks linnast väljas elavad inimesed saavad teada asjadest, mis toimub pealinnas. Erinevad situatsioonid-Linnapea vahetumine, seaduste redigeerimine, uute hoonete ehitamine jne. Sama käib ka ühiskonna kohta. Samamoodi annab ajakirjandus kogu ühiskonnale aimu asjadest, mis toimub teistes kogukondades. Näiteks Tallinnlased saavad just läbi ajakirjanduse teada, mis toimub hetkel väga aktuaalses kohas, Vao külas, kuhu on paigutatud teistest riikidest sisserännanud pagulased. Meedia pakatab näiteks, et antud külas toimuvad erinevad õnnetused/kuriteod. Kas see on tõsi? Kuidas me seda uskuda saame? Me ei saagi. Oleneb kategooriast, kui tegu on puhtalt meelelahutusega, siis reporteri jaoks ei ole oluline tõepõhi, tema jaoks on olulin...
