Otherkin subculture (beliefs, behaviour, influences)
Influences- Tales about werewolfs, vampires, dragons, arcangels have been told hundreds years before
the first otherkin community was founded. It is obvious that these stories and strange events connected to these
stories influenced the appearance of real vampires and half-unicorns but there comes the question- where were
the otherkins two hundred years ago? Or why did they firstly appear only 20 years ago? Well, it is believed that
non-human humans always lived on the planet, thruout the history but only in 1990-s they had a chance to talk
about themselves, after the World experienced so much- two world wars, genocide etc. Only then could the
otherkins talk about themselves without a fear of being bullied.
First big otherkin community grew out of the elven online communities of the early-to-mid-1990s. The oldest
Internet resource for otherkin is the Elfinkind Digest, a mailing list started in 1990. It was the time when
