  Part   of   postmodernism.   Combines   dream-­‐like   elements   with   realism.   Angela   Carter,   Salman   Rushdie,   D.M.   Thomas,   Kate   Atkinson  (Jeanette  Winterson’s  Sexing  the  Cherry;  Skellig  by  David  Almond).     Characters   with   additional   powers:   for   instance,   telepathy,   the   ability   of   flight   or   telekinesis,  (semi-­‐)immortality,  etc.   Magic   realism   became   prominent   in   English   literature   in   the   1980s,   often   associated   with   historiographic   metafiction.   Subvert   reality   –   the   idea   that   reality   is   not   always   what  it  seems.
