It is difficult to say when the term submarine sandwich was first used for these types of large
sandwiches. Although it is quite obvious that the sandwich got its name because of its long shape
that resembles submarines, there are several myths around the origin of the term.
The first theory is that at the beginning of World War II a sandwich was specifically created in a
