Andres Ehin elab koos Ly Seppeliga Raplas, mis oleks justkui linn, aga Tallinna poolt vaadates väga maa moodi. Ehin, 65-aastane mees, ütleb uhkusega, et on luuletanud juba üle neljakümne viie aasta. Ja alates esikkogust "Hunditamm" (1968) on ta harrastanud järjekindlalt sürrealistlikku luulet. Kas pole see tõeline haruldus meie muidu maalähedase ja üsna möödapääsmatult realistliku luule taustal? Kust on selline mees tulnud? "Mina olen made in Schwitzerland," ütleb Andres Ehin seepeale uhkusevarjundiga. Ehini isa oli 1930ndatel Eesti majandusesindaja Rahvaste Liidu juures Sveitsis, ema õpetas aga Prantsusmaal Nantes'i linnas sealsetele preilidele inglise keelt. Teise maailmasõja hakul, kui teised katsusid Eestist välja pääseda, tulid Ehini vanemad koju tagasi, sest õde, vend ja vanaema olid siia jäänud. Andres sündis 1940. aasta 13. märtsil Tallinnas.
