Gaelic football is the most popular sport in Ireland in terms of match attendance and community involvement, and represents 34% of total sports attendances at events in Ireland and abroad, followed by hurling at 23%, soccer at 16% and rugby at 8% and the All-Ireland Football Final is the most watched event in Ireland's sporting calendar. Swimming, golf, aerobics, soccer, cycling, Gaelic football and billiards/snooker are the sporting activities with the highest levels of playing participatio. Soccer is the most popular sport involving national teams. Many other sports are also played and followed, including basketball, boxing, cricket, fishing, golf, greyhound racing, handball, hockey, horse racing, motor sport, show jumping and tennis. Dublin has been selected as the European Capital of Sport in 2010. MUSIC Irish Music is the generic term for music that has been created in various genres on the entire island of Ireland.
Platon käsitluse kohaselt vastavad ideedele meeltega tajutava maailma asjades samanimelised omadused. Sealjuures on idee mingil viisil vastavate omaduste põhjuseks. Nii näiteks üteldakse dialoogis “Euthyphron”: “… vagad asjad on vagad mingi ühe idee tõttu …” (6d-e; Platon, Teosed I, lk. 397) Kuidas täpselt see vahekord välja näeb, jääb Platonil ebaselgeks. Ta kirjeldab seda vahekorda vahel niisuguse mõistega nagu methexis (lad. keeles participatio) – osavõtt; või ka parousia – kohalolu. Igas üksikus nähtuses on tema idee kohal ja idee kohalolu ilmneb ühiste omadustena kõikidel üksikutel antud liiki kuuluvatel asjadel, “nähtava maailma” asjade-nähtuste sarnasusena, ühiste-üldiste omaduste omamisena nende poolt. Sellistele selgitustele vaatamata jääb see vahekord lähemalt kirjeldamata – kõik need antud vahekorda selgitama mõeldud väljendid kujutavad endast metafoore.
