The brackets are placed after the quoted or paraphrased part and are followed by a full stop. To decide whether to include the author's name in the brackets we need to see if we had already mentioned his name in the sentence. If the name is there (e.g. According to Baker, "..." (17).), we do not have to repeat it in brackets, only the page number appears. If we do not mention the name in our sentence, then the name should appear in brackets just the family name (e.g. "... ... ..." (Baker 17).)
