Pots or inkwells (Fig. 24) commonly used in the English Channel
by the Cornish and Devon crab fleets are rapidly becoming the
most important method used for catching brown crab in Scottish
waters, in terms of number of pots used by each vessel and the
tonnage removed. The construction of these pots has changed
from using natural materials such as cane to plastic piping frames
with a netting cover with plastic `bucket' entrance with a heavy
