Frank Sinatra sündis 12.detsembril 1915. Üheksateistaastaselt sai temast kvarteti Hoboken Four liige ning peale raadio talendikonkursi võitmist 1935.aastal esines ta aeg-ajalt eetris, teenides elatist laulva kelnerina. Juhuslik kohtumine orkestrijuhi Frank Mane'iga viis esimese heliplaadini ja see juba eduka lepinguni ülipopulaarse Harry James'i orkestriga 1939.aasta suvel. Kahjuks ei saanud kaks hiilgavat muusikut omavahel läbi ning 1940.aasta jaanuaris sai Frankist veelgi kuulsama orkestri juhi Tommy Dorsey solist. Juba esimese koostööaasta jooksul ilmus müügile 20 singlit. Osalemine filmis ,,Las Vegas Nights" tõstis laulja aasta populaarseima artisti staatusesse. 1942.aastal alustas Sinatra soolokarjääri. Vana-aasta õhtul New Yorkis toimunud legendaarne kontsert oli ajaloos esimene, kus saal oli täis hüsteeriliselt nutvaid ja kriiskavaid teismelisi tüdrukuid. See oli tänapäevase staarikultuse sünnihetk.
