The rapid spread of the English language all over the world and its broad employnment in our country defines the actuality of the given research paper. This work seeks to understand why English has become the language of international scope, what future awaits this language, how many people speak it worldwide and what is the history of the English language expansion in the world. The current work examines the history of the English language, tracing the origins of English as a global language, as well as the role of English in the modern world.
