An event in my childhood

My childhood story Whenever I think about my childhood, one story comes to my mind. A story I am proud of. It’s about how I helped my one year older brother when he got stung by a bee. It’s not just an ordinary story because my brother, back then, was allergic to bees. And because of that I may have saved his life. It all began on a sunny summer day at my grandfather’s country home. We had a dog back then and he had his own fenced garden with a doghouse in it. Me and my brother were just fooling around outside doing funny stuff. At some point he decided to go let the dog out. The poles that were holding the fence up were holo inside and the bees thought that it was a great place to make a hive in. I can’t remeber why, but my brother for some reason leaned over the fence pole and looked into it. That’s when my brother got stung near to his eyes. He immediately

words by hyphen(s) (brother-in-law), a solid compound is formed when the two words are written as one word (typewriter), solid compounds typically begin as two separate words, then become hyphenated words, and finally become solid compounds. Endocentric and exocentric compounds An endocentric compound consists of a head, i.e. the categorical part that contains the basic meaning of the whole compound, and modifiers, which restrict this meaning , doghouse. Exocentric compounds are hyponyms of some unexpressed semantic head (e.g. a person, a plant, an animal...), and their meaning often cannot be transparently guessed from its constituent parts. White-collar. Meaning change A word typically has not one meaning but several. Fading- an old sense of a word fades away- dies; Radiation- a new sense of words are created. Denotative shift is movement in sideways, a combination of extension and specialization. e.g. gossip-- godfather and idle talk.

salient to humans and rats are not cute. According to Fogelin, the difference between a figurative comparison and a literal one is in the standard of salience, which in a way reverses. It is, Fogelin says (p. 90), literally true that Winston Churchill looked like a bulldog, but literally false that Churchill was like a bulldog (he having been human rather than canine, two-legged, lacking in fur, given to talking rather than barking, and far too big to crawl into a doghouse). Yet it is figuratively true that he was like a bulldog. In calling him one, Fogelin says, "we compare him to a bulldog (as opposed, say, to a French poodle), while at the same time trimming the feature space in terms of the subject's [Churchill's] salient 182 The dark side features" (p. 91). Unfortunately Fogelin does not go into detail about "trim- ming the feature space." I believe the idea is that, having rejected the simile as
