She is afraid of living alone and that when she dies alone she will be eaten by dogs because nobody will find her for months! The story starts when Bridget goes home for the Christmas holidays and her mother tries yet again to fix her up with some man. This time it's the humourless lawyer, Mark, who wears very weird clothes. After a disastrous first meeting with Mark, Bridget returns to London with a list of New Year resolutions. She starts a diary and starts to record all the disappointments in her life. Back in the publishing office where she works, Bridget starts flirting with her boss Daniel Cleaver. After some days she falls in love with Daniel. They spend a lot of time together but they hide their relationship at work. Bridget believes that Daniel is the right man for her until she finds out that Daniel has a lover. Bridget decides to quit the job and find another one. Some days later she gets a job on the television has a reporter.

[1] Later life In 1877, Frederick Douglass purchased his final home in Washington D.C., on the banks of the Anacostia River. He named it Cedar Hill (also spelled CedarHill). He expanded the house from 14 to 21 rooms and included a china closet. One year later, Douglass expanded his property to 15 acres (61,000 m²), with the purchase of adjoining lots. The home is now the location of the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site. After the disappointments of Reconstruction, many African Americans called Exodusters moved to Kansas to form all-black towns. Douglass spoke out against the movement, urging blacks to stick it out. He was condemned and booed by black audiences. 7 In 1877, Douglass was appointed a United States Marshal. In 1881, he was appointed Recorder of Deeds for the District of Columbia.
