promised but never delivered. I am talking about the intensive 4-wekk language course provided by you, International Language Centre. First things first the "highly qualified staff" had a terrible sense of time and always arrived late. Not to mention their insufficient language level, which I found quite displeasing. In addition to that, the provided free course materials were in reality just old and used textbooks and the desks were just way too small to work on, and the classes had no heating, which were quite cold in the mornings. Also you advertised small study groups, but the fact that there were over a dozen people in class determined that it was a lie. Now, according to these points that I brought out, I believe I am entitled to a full refund and I expect your full cooperation. Yours faithfully, Mart Mets

Play sports and you get a lot more than a fit body

Play sports and you get a lot more than just a fit body Sport plays a role in every person's life. A lot of us enjoy doing different sports, others maybe not so much. Everybody needs some sport while growing. It is not only because the world today is filled with computers and people are always sitting by desks. Sport has many positive effects on people besides having a fit body. There is a saying that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Team sports show and teach how to work in a group, how to communicate. People who play sports can release some energy in the game also and they will be calmer, their decisions will be more calculated. Training regularly will teach how to divide their time between school or a job and training. I

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ?

Computers are able to do everything that make our life easier, but why are there still so many different opinions about ones' usefulness? The positive side of having computers in our life is how much it actually changes our life and makes it easier. There are no problems, I mean literally no problems that computers could not do. Computers are used to find information, read news, study, and some even play computer games. But to be exact, computer is not only that small box that stays under our desks or the lap-tops that are well known today. Computers are everything automatic that surround us, for example nowadays there are no cars made without computerised parts. Even shopping would not be even close to like it is now if we would not have all that amazing technology. Of course, like every other thing, computerised world has its own downsides. Kids spend too much time on social networks and playing computer games. Of course it is not the only negative thing,

Question Was I/he/she/it playing? Were you/we/they playing? When to use the Past Continuous Past Continuous (Progressive) generally refers to: • Actions in progress (often interrupted by events) I was drinking my coffee at the time. While I was opening the letter, the phone rang. • Background description in narratives I entered the office and looked around. Most people were working at their desks, but Jane was staring out the window and pretending to write something at the same time. • Changing states The car was getting worse all the time. One of the headlights was gradually falling off, and the engine was making more and more funny noises. • Repeated actions - criticism With a frequency adverb, this use is similar to the use of Present Continuous to express annoyance.

All about High Tech

High tech is often viewed as high risk, but offering the opportunity for high profits. Like Big Science, high technology is an international phenomenon, spanning continents, epitomized by the worldwide communication of the Internet. Thus a multinational corporation might work on a project 24 hours a day, with teams waking and working with the advance of the sun across the globe; such projects might be in software development or in the development of an integrated circuit. The help desks of a multinational corporation might thus employ, successively, teams in Kenya, Brazil, the Philippines, or India, with the only requirement fluency in the mother tongue, be it Spanish, Portuguese or English. OECD has two different approaches: sector and product (industry) approaches. High-tech sectors The sector approach classifies industries according their technology intensity, product approach according to finished products. · Aerospace technology · Biotechnology

one thing is used of something physically or otherwise associated with it: e.g. the 12 Pentagon (strictly a building) when used of the military inhabiting it. This may lead to metonymic change of meaning: e.g. the sense of bureau changed successively from cloth used to cover desks, first to desk itself, then to agency etc. (working from a desk). Metonymy is based on actual/literal association between the two components. o White-collar, blue-collar, redcap, paleface, o Container for contained  The kettle’s boiling, room 101 wants breakfast, the car behind us decided to stop o Represented entity for representative

Executive had read it carefully, he asked Beardall, "When do you think it will happen?"—referring to the outbreak of war. "Most any time," replied the naval aide, who thought that the moment was getting very close. At the Japanese embassy at 2514 Massachusetts Avenue, the code clerks were executing these destruction orders. The code room stood at the southeast corner of the embassy, with windows overlooking the embassy parking lot and another legation next door. Half a dozen desks clustered in the middle of the room. Two cipher machines waited on desks against the west wall and a third, broken, rested in the walk-in safe. In utter disregard of the regulations promulgated for the security of communications, the embassy had hired an elderly Negro janitor named Robert to dust and clean the code room and its supersecret furnishings each day. The code clerks did make some obeisance to the security regulations by not allowing him in the room unless some Japanese were in it

Inside, it was brightly lit, and warmer than I'd hoped. The office was small; a little waiting area with padded folding chairs, orange-flecked commercial carpet, notices and awards cluttering the walls, a big clock ticking loudly. Plants grew everywhere in large plastic pots, as if there wasn't enough greenery outside. The room was cut in half by a long counter, cluttered with wire baskets full of papers and brightly colored flyers taped to its front. There were three desks behind the counter, one of which was manned by a large, red-haired woman wearing glasses. She was wearing a purple t-shirt, which immediately made me feel overdressed. The red-haired woman looked up. "Can I help you?" "I'm Isabella Swan," I informed her, and saw the immediate awareness light her eyes. I was expected, a topic of gossip no doubt. Daughter of the Chief's flighty ex-wife, come home at last. "Of course," she said
