Venoosse trombembolismi seos pahaloomulise kasvajaga
The paper largely draws its statistics from the database of the hospital. For a coherent analysis
several statistical methods were used. The results of the survey seem to confirm that patients with
cancer are at significantly higher risk of developing, and dying from venous thromboembolism
(VTE).
This requires careful consideration of the interplay between the patient's cancer and treatment
course, with their underlying comorbidities. Recognizing the increased risk for VTE in cancer
patients is the first step in preventing the occurrence of VTE and promptly identifying VTE in these
patients. Introducing the results of this study to the Estonian physician will help to raise awareness
of the relationship between VTE and malignant tumors, increase alertness for potential tumor
diagnosis in VTE patients and the importance of VTE prevention in oncological patients.
