Christie's first detective novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, introduced Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective, who appeared in more than 40 books, the last of which was CURTAIN (1975). The Christies bought a house and named it 'Styles' after the first novel.In 1930, Christie married with Max Mallowan. Their marriage was especially happy. Sir Max Edgar LucienMallowan, CBE (6 May 1904 19 August 1978) was a prominent British archaeologist.
