Harry is the hero of all the stories, though there are many other likeable characters such as his friends Ron and Hermione, and the powerful wizard Albus Dumbledore. The main villain is the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents. The stories are full of things that appeal to imagination of readers of all ages. One of them is the game of `Quidditch', which Harry is very good at. It is a bit like football, although it takes place in the sky and the players ride on broomsticks! The last seventh Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was released globally on July 21, 2007 and broke sales records as the fastest-selling book ever. It sold 15 million copies in the first twenty-four hours following its release, including more than 11 million in the U.S. and U.K. alone. The previous record, nine million in its first day, had been held by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

As Dorothy enters the land of Oz, she is bewildered when Glinda the Good asks, "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" In Dorothy's Ordinary W o r l d of Kansas, there are only bad witches, but in the Special W o r l d of Oz, witches can also be good, and fly in pink bubbles instead of on broomsticks. Another Test of the hero is how quickly she can adjust to the new rules o f the Special World. At this stage a Western may impose certain conditions on people entering a town or a bar. In Unforgiven, guns cannot be worn in the sheriff's territory. T h i s re striction can draw the hero into conflicts. A hero may enter a bar to discover that the town is totally polarized by two factions: the cattlemen vs. the farmers, the Earps vs. the Clantons, the bounty hunters vs
