Koalas The koala is an arboreal herbivore marsupial native to Australia. It is easily decide by its strong, tailless body; round, fluffy ears; and large, spoon-shaped nose. The koala has a body length of 6085 cm and weighs 415 kg. Fur colour ranges from silver grey to chocolate brown. At the beginning of the 20th century people hunted Koala because their fur. Today this animal is under the protection but they still are in danger. Koalas from the northern populations are typically smaller and lighter in colour
Tarantula are a group of hairy and often very large spiders belonging to the family Theraphosidae, of which approximately 900 species have been identified. Some genera of the tarantulas hunt prey primarily in trees and other genera hunt on or near the ground. All tarantulas can produce silk; while arboreal species will typically reside in a silken "tube tent", terrestrial species will line their burrows with silk to stabilize the burrow wall and facilitate climbing up and down. Tarantulas mainly eat insects and other arthropods, using ambush as their primary method of prey capture. The biggest tarantulas can kill animals as large as lizards, mice, and birds. Tarantulas are found in tropical and desert regions around the world.
9. Using the picture (given in the test) describe how a plant is adapted to the life in tropical rainforest? Epiphytes, liana, climbers or stranglers. 10. What is an epiphyte? It is a so-called air plant, which grows on branches high in the trees. It extracts moisture from the air. 11. What is a liana? It is a woody vine which grows rapidly up the tree trunks. 12. How are animals adapted to life in the biome tropical rainforest/tropical deciduous forest)? Trf arboreal life, bright colours and sharp patterns, loud vocalizations. Tdf adapted to dry season, many animals live on trees. The life on forest floor is more diverse than in trf. 13. Using the picture describe how an animal is adapted to the life in tropical rainforest? 14. Why are rainforests so important for people? Farming, homes for people, mining for gold, oil etc., logging for trees firewood, paper products. 15
mostly of fruit and flower nectar. While they are thought to be less carnivorous than mouse lemurs, they too eat insects and small vertebrates. Dwarf lemurs may be responsible for pollinating some species of baobab trees. In addition, they play an important role in the ecology of the tropical forest by aiding in the dispersal of small seeds. As a part of their normal scent marking routine, dwarf lemurs often smear feces onto branches as they walk along well-traveled arboreal pathways through the forest, thereby providing a perfect microclimate for the germination of parasitic plants common in the forest.
