HC Brooke reported seeing three spotted tabby Malay cats in Holland in the 1880s and some
very similar specimens at the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris around the same time. "The tails
of these [Paris] cats, about three or four inches long, were tightly screwed, or at least the tail
formed three complete revolutions. The 'screw' tail, as also the spotted type of colouration,
