The emu is the largest bird in Australia. There are three subspecies of emus in
Australia.
They are soft-feathered, brown and they reach up to 2meters.
The feather structure prevents heat from flowing into the skin, permitting Emus
to be active during the midday heat. Emus can live between 10 and 20 years.
They have long legs and they can sprint at 50 km/h.
They feed on a variety of plants and insects and they drink seldom,and they
may travel long distances to find food. They are endowed with good eyesight
and hearing.
