Overview
Originated in 1338 in Kyrgyzstan.
It spread by way of the Silk Road or by
ship to Europe.
By the end of 1346 it had reached the
seaports of Europe.
In 1348 the disease spread northwest
across Europe, including England.
It killed between 75 and 200 million
people by current estimates.
The Black Death was one
of the most devastating
pandemics in human
history, peaking in Europe
between 1347 and 1350.
The speed with which the
disease could kill was
terrifying to population of
the medieval world.
Infected people can
spread the disease
through the air by
coughing, sneezing, or
just breathing!
When there was a infected in the
house, a red cross was painted on the
door.
Because of black spots, the disease
was called the black death.
Nowadays we know it is bubonic
plague
