New Zealand has an exceptionally long coastline compared to the size of the country (over 15,000 km) which makes it almost the same size as the mainland USA's coastline. Even though New Zealand is only about the same size as Colorado, the large coastline is possible because it is extremely iregular and indented. New Zealand's coastline is packed with deep coves, bays, intricate harbours, long sounds, and steep fiords. Its territorial waters stretch from the sub-tropical through to the sub-antarctic. Both islands tend to have better swimming beaches on their eastern coasts and the further north you go. The west coasts of both islands are quite rugged with cliffs and more unsettled weather. There are however some suitable swimming and bathing beaches here, with iron

Essay about NewZealand and Australia

In my essay I will describe the most characteristic features of the Maori people and the aborigines. I will divide the essay in 3 parts the Maori people, the aborigines and their comparison. Maori are the host people of New Zealand. Their name is derived from Ma-Uri which means the children of heaven. The arrival of the Maori people to New Zealand is considered to be somewhat of a mystery. It is known that first Polynesians arrived to New Zealand about 1000 years ago, when navigator Kupe discovered the land in 950 AD. He named it Aotearoa The Land of the Long White Cloud. Although these facts can be debatable, I will focus my attention on this interpretation of Maori history. After the Maori arrived to New Zealand, they started to develop into tribes and sub tribes, this tribal system is still in use. Their culture had almost no influence from the rest of the world. They evolved a culture endorsed by agriculture and hunting

After studying the topic I would say that it cannot be said whether the British Empire was a very good or a very bad thing. Of course any kind of oppression should not be approved of and actually the Empire and native British forced on their way of life and culture to the colonies. On the other hand the Empire also helped its subjects to develop in a positive sense. In overall Britain ruled several parts of the world, like India, parts of Africa, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia, but also Ireland. Just to prove my point I will give some examples how the British Empire affected its subjects. In the 19th century British culture and way of life became predominate in Ireland. In the 1840s the potato crop failed two years in a row and a terrible famine occurred. Millions of peasants, those with Irish Gaelic language and customs either died or emigrated. from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia and New Zealand. The symbols are pumpkin, mythical monsters, black cats, scarecrows. Before you can enjoy Halloween you must do a lot of preparations. Like making the holiday decoration. You must also have candy for the trick-or-treaters. That is if you don`t want to find eggs on your house. The main activities are trick-or-treating and throwing eggs at people houses for hooligans. I think it is a holiday like any other. I don`t turn much attention to it. Hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes Karl

Text about Disc Golf

Disc golf, is a flying disc game, as well as a precision and accuracy sport, in which individual players throw a flying disc at a target. The early history of disc golf is closely tied to the history of the recreational flying disc and may have been invented in the early 1900s.The first known instance of anyone playing golf with a flying disc occurred in Canada in 1926.
