Lady with an Ermine Lady with an Ermine is a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, around 14891490. The painting is one of only four female portraits Leonardo painted. Despite sustaining much damage the surface is much rubbed, the background was lightly overpainted with unmodulated black, the upper left corner has been broken and repaired, a transparent veil on the model's head was turned into an extravagant hairdo and several fingers were grossly retouched - it is nonetheless in better condition than many of Leonardo's other paintings. The sitter's hair is confined tightly to her head under a very fine net veil with a woven border of gold-wound threads. As in many of Leonardo's portraits, the composition comprises a pyramidic

authority. She explains that in her experience the students in Estonia occasionally complain about the large amount of home assignments, tests and some classroom assignments such as moving around in the class and asking questions from the other students, while students in China almost never do. In her opinion one reason behind the complaints could be that in Estonia the students compare her way of teaching with their expectations and previous experiences of other teachers in Estonia which might be different. In China, however, the overseas students might already expect the customs to be different and think that since they are in China they should accept the Chinese way of teaching. Another difference between teaching Chinese in China and in Estonia is the teaching speed. Even though the class sizes in Estonia are considerably smaller, around 10 students, and the

The pollution twhat comes from the factories is bigdrastic. In conclusion, there are many ways to make our cities' air pollution levels lower. We all need to do what we can. As the old proverb says "To make things better, you should start with yourself". You address the propts given in the textbook, but in a rather vague way. Don't be afraid to use the expressions and phrases from the textbook The structure of your essay is very good, especially the conclusion. However, since you have not been as precise as the task required you to be and your language use has been rather simple (which is why it is largely correct), the mark is a good strong 4.

ended in Russia's favor. Another important achievement is the recently reached agreement which stipulates that no visas will be needed for short-term trips between Russia and the EU countries. In my opinion at one point of view, the EU is more interested because we have made more trade- offs. On the other hand as the EU is by far the biggest investor in Russia and the most important market for Russian exports, it is very clear, that the benefits, that Russia gets by preserving good relations with the EU, are their main interest. This means that both are equal partners. 2. What is the amount of yearly trade between EU and Russia? Which are the main groups of goods that are imported and exported? Which EU countries are the biggest trade partners for Russia regarding trade? Maris Süld The Price of Everlasting Youth Everything in this life has a price, especially things you could not normally get like the everlasting youth. In the book "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde, a young man called Dorian gets it, but it does not come free. To start with, the book is full of evil. It talks about the evil, that lies inside humans, and when it comes out, there is nothing we can do. Dorian Gray had the same problem. At the beginning of the book he was a very wealthy, intelligent man with a very high status. His beauty charmed others. Basil Hallward was inspired to draw his portrait in order to preserve his beauty and youth. With Lord Henry practically "brain-washing" Dorian, he recognised

What is wrong with current school education? School education right now, like democracy, is not perfect. It has to be perfected all the time, according to the ways of life, which are always changing. There definately is not a certain perfect solution. Firts problem in current education system coul be that students are put into a „box“. Everyone gets graded by a certain standard, if you can not reach that line, then yo have failed. This is the fairest way, at least in concept. But not all the people have same abilities and strengths. Education should be more personal, focusin on a certain students talents and strengths and trying to develope those, so that the children could reach their full- potential and would always be encouraged to follow their heart in life. Secondly, there should be more practical learning. Practical learning is much more sufficient and also more fun. Learning can be fun, but children do not know...
How to deal with water shortage problems? Water covers more than 70% of the Earth's surface and it is the most valuable resource in the world. We need water to live on this planet otherwise life on Earth wouldn't be possible. Many countries suffer from water shortages. There is no fresh water for people usage. It's actually a major problem in the world but what can we do to decrease this? Firstly, people need to realise that there are many other people in the world who does not have accessibility to water. We can decrease it by not wasting water on pointless things for example long showers and watering flowers outside the house. By doing this we will economize water and it may be possible for other people to use fresh water as well. Secondly, it is really important to keep the water fresh and clean but many factories let their sewage into the groundwater which can cause a pollution and the lack of fresh water a...
Andrew Davison Dept. of Computer Engineering Prince of Songkla University HatYai, Songkhla 90112 E-mail: [email protected] Draft: 14th January 2003, #2 Abstract This article looks at the advantages and disadvantages of using Java and Java 3D for games programming. It assumes the reader is familiar with Java, but presents short overviews of gaming, the low-level APIs OpenGL and DirectX, and Java 3D. No programming examples are included here, although links to online code are supplied. 1. Background to Gaming Giving a definition for `computer game' is problematic, due to the wide range of game types. For example, the ArcadePod site (http://www.arcadePod.com) divides its hundreds of Java games into more than ten categories: 3D games, multiplayer, action,

Observe whether any hydrogen evolves on the copper surface? Explain, why copper did not react with diluted hydrochloric acid! Adding copper wire doesnt make H extract. Copper is less active than H. H starts to extract when connect copper wire to Zinc, because zinc corrodes when connected to more active metal. Now put the copper wire into contact with the zinc and observe whether hydrogen will evolve on the copper surface. By putting copper and zinc into contact with each other in the solution of hydrochloric acid (an electrolyte), you have created a galvanic pair. Zinc as the metal with

Technology has dramatically changed leisure and hobbies Family drives with a car, husband turns the car looking at the GPS directions to home. Wife shares pictures to Instagram with her iPhone and in the backseat girl is playing with her iPad and boy reads on his kindle. This is normal nowadays, because technolgy has been improved for example people can now communicate with each other much faster. It is great, although it can also harm people. Technology is serious responsibility- if people do not use an invention carefully, then it would end up the wrong way. The word „Leisure“ meaning changes in every 10 to 20 years. 50 years ago spare time was usually considered as that part of a day when people took a nap or children played with each other. Nowadays technological tools are killing off leisure time, especially for younger

We are having phones, full on different features, with last ten years, almost every family have their own computer and in some countries everyday food is changed with genetically modified food. But how our life can be changed after hundred years? In 2112, we are living in Earth. We are not using air, because after air pollution, it is dangerous for people to breathe it. We are definitely driving with aircrafts, because we ran out of fuel over 50 years ago. Because Earth is very polluted, there isn't any way to grow food. All food is made in factories from plastic and other chemical stocks, so they are not very healthy

The themes dealt with in a book are simply not relevant to young people today When we create a chart of things that young people like to do in their free time, reading would probably not be in the first three. Is it related to the themes discussed in books and are those themes irrelevant to young people today? Obligatory books in basic school and gymnasium, are mostly from the previous century or from even earlier. Those books are mainly discussing love, wars and relations having one but those books don't talk about everything. They have their confines and mainly concentrate on descriptions and less on the story. But young people want their own picture from the book, they don't need every detail described. When we think more about the themes disussed in obligatory books, then they are also hold in check. Here is the second problem, youngsters can't relate to those topics. For example, they are only describing a feeling, lik...
