I was in shock and could not understand how that was possible. Even if there was a change in the system, is it acceptable to cancel our seating and not inform us about it? On July 4th I went along with my son to the airport and tried to find out about the seating at check-in. Unfortunately we did not find much help from the information desk – though they somehow put my son to sit behind his grandfather on their first flight from Anchorage to Warsaw, but could not do anything on the flight from Warsaw to Toronto. I feel really insecure sending my son on this trip. In Warsaw they had only time to change the planes and when they went to ask about the seats from the lady at the boarding desk, they found that the plane was already full and there was not anything to do about it. If there is a threat to one's security, it concerns everyone. Central and Eastern Europe, including Estonia, fell under the influence of the Soviet Union or even became part of it after the Second World War. It was the time when twelve western states from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean established the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) on 4 April 1949. NATO was founded to balance out a threat coming from the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Treaty. NATO founding members were committed to defend each other in case of military aggression against any of the members. The Soviet Union collapsed in winter 1991 and the antagonism to the Soviet Union disappeared. As a result, countries of Eastern and Central Europe became partners of NATO, later member states (e.g. Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland joined NATO in 1999). Finally they agreed on democratic elections but most of the candidates were communist so the communist still got to power. In between the countries which were controlled by the communist and the countries which were on the USA's side an iron curtain was drawn. Military alliances were formed as the West grouped together as NATO and the East as the Warsaw Pact. Many countries were able to fight against the Communist thanks to the USA's Marshal Plan ( European Recovery Programme- ERP). Because it was such a big of success the USA wanted to start another programme of technical aid to less- developed countries outside Europe.The USSR wanted support from those areas too and started a very similar Molotov Plan. Many actors and directors undertook extensive tours to the West and the East to keep pace with all the innovations in their field. In the fine arts the artists concentrated on themes based on everyday life, though there was a tendency to consider art as a phenomenon standing high above all levels of society. In 1939 several exhibitions of Estonian art took place in foreign countries: 76 artists exhibited 212 works in Rome, Budapest, Warsaw, Krakow and Antwerp. A major achievement in Estonian progressive symphonism is the First Symphony (in modo Mixolydio) in 1936 by Heino Eller. This mode is, in the opinion of Eller, akin to the mood of Estonian folk tunes and by using it the composer wished to create a large-scale work with national countenance.1 Eller is exhibiting his lyric-epic manner of expression, common to his shorter works, yet here it is able to attain magnificence.

It was in code, of course, but the cryptanalysts of Goring's Forschungsamt, who had long ago cracked the Polish diplomatic code, had reduced it to plaintext at once, translated it into German, and sent a copy to Goring via messenger. The entire process had taken the communications-intelligence agency less than an hour. At the" end of the telegram came a "special and secret message" to the ambassador: "Do not enter under any circumstances into any factual
