Othello opens in the stately city of Venice

Othello opens in the stately city of Venice, a worldwide hub for trade and commerce. The first characters introduced are Iago, an ensign denied promotion by Othello, and Roderigo, a jealous ex- suitor of Desdemona. The two are in route to describing to Senator Brabantio the elopement of Othello and Desdemona, Brabantio’s daughter. Quickly revealing Iago’s deceitful nature, the matter is breached to Brabantio and soon afterward brought before the Duke of Venice to be discussed. Othello and Desdemona plead their love to the Duke, refuting the Senator’s claims that Othello bewitched his daughter, and that their marriage was true. After Othello claims that he wooed her with his adventurous stories, Desdemona herself testifies that she fell honestly in love with the Moor and freely married him. Following their clearance of wrongdoing, Othello is immediately sent to defend against the Turks in Cyrpus

San Francisco. There are a lot of sights: Golden Gate Bridge, the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, Alcatraz, City Hall, Chinatown, Museum of Modern Art and AT&T Park, where I could watch the baseball match of San Francisco Giants. Secondly I'd like to visit Australian city Sydney. I'd certainly go to the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Town Hall, Taronga Zoo and sunbathe on the beautiful beaches. My third and final choice is European city in Italy Venice. It's popular with its waterways. I'd like to travel along the Grand Canal by a Venetian boat called gondola. There are also other sights I'd like to see. For example the Salute, the Ponte dei Sospiri, often called the "Bridge of Sighs", Piazza San Marco and St Mark's Basilica. I find it fabulous to see the Carnival of Venice. In conclusion, I love to travel, so it's difficult for me to choose, but if I could go anywhere in the world, then San Francisco, Sydney and Venice are the cities

Impressionism (prantsusmaal ja eestis)

Impressionism (prantsusmaal ja eestis) Prantsuse keeles impressioon tähendab hetkelist muljet. Impressionism on prantsuse maalikunstis 1860.-70. Aastatel tekkinud vool. Sõna ise tähendab ,,muljet", voolu nimetuseks sai see tänu Claude Monet´ esimesel impressionistide näitusel välja pandud maalile ,,Impressioon. Varjutam...

The shadowy quality for which the work is renowned came to be called Leonardo's Smoke. During his lifetime Leonardo was valued as an engineer. In a letter to Ludovico il Moro he claimed to be able to create all sorts of machines both for the protection of a city and for siege. When he fled to Venice in 1499 he found employment as an engineer and devised a system of moveable barricades to protect the city from attack. He also had a scheme for diverting the flow of the Arno River in order to flood Pisa. Within Leonardo's own lifetime his fame was such that the King of France carried him away like a trophy, and was claimed to have supported him in his old age and held him in his arms as he died. Sonnets the genre was developed in Italy, perfected by Petrarch, Shakespeare and Milton. In his poems there are the characters The Dark Lady, the Young Friend, the author. In his sonnets he criticizes human vices. Shakespeares ideal beauty differed greatly from the traditional beauty of the time. The Earl of Southampton was his friend. Comedies The Taming of the Shrew, A Mid-Summer Night's Dream, The Twelth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of Venice, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, As You Like It. Although the comedies take place in Italy, they reflect Renaissance England and the characters are men and women whose raison d'etre is enjoying life. There is sorrow and heartbreak in the comedies, but the ending is always relatively happy. The aim of the autho is to take the reader away from everyday troubles. The comic effect comes through comic characters and situations. Shakespeare believed in man's virtues

Esimese osa kõige suuremaks muusikaliseks elamuseks kujunes kindlasti flöödiõpilase Varvara Mikhaylova esitatud G. Briccialdi ,,Carnival of Venice". Mind hämmastas, kuidas instrumentalist suutis mängida ülikiires tempos nii puhtalt, täpselt ja minu arvates ka väga ilusa tooniga ja samas ka see muusika oma kujundusega ka ilmekalt ,,elama panna". market for their services. People became wealthier and had more than enough money to spend. They began to build larger houses, buy more expensive clothes and get interested in art and literature. The middle class population also had more free time, which they spent learning foreign languages, reading, playing musical instruments and studying other things of interest. The Renaissance was especially strong in Italian cities. They became centres of trade, wealth and education. Many cities, like Venice, Genoa and Florence had famous citizens who were very rich and gave the city a lot of money. The printing of books led to a new way of thinking. Scholars of the Renaissance returned to the writings of Greek and Roman philosophers. These writings are called the "classics". More and more scholars learned to read Greek and Latin and studied old manuscripts on topics like science, art and life.During the Middle Ages people

The rest of the capital could be called the New Town, dating mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries. Tallinn is a mixture of the modern and the medieval where tradition goes hand in hand with the most recent trends. Its cross-cultural history has given the city a special charm. It has about 30 museums, 25 galleries and 15 exhibition halls. Among its many twin towns and partners are Helsinki in Finland, Schwerin and Kiel in Germany, Stockholm and Malmö in Sweden, Gent in Belgium, Venice in Italy and Odessa in the Ukraine. 2. materials, workmanship, or setting (the Committee has stressed that reconstruction is only acceptable if carried out on the basis of complete and detailed documentation of the original artefact and to no extent on conjecture). The criteria of authenticity may apply to Japanese bridges like the Kintaikyo spanning the Nishiki River in Iwakuni or Palladio's bridge over the River Brenta at Bassano a Grappa near Venice (Italy). In the same context, some bridges have been moved when unable to function at their original location. It is not unusual in the USA, for example, to relocate a metal truss bridge to a less travelled road when it can no longer handle the traffic; the same probably holds true for other countries. This is within the functional tradition of some bridge types and should not be viewed as a negative factor in determining the integrity of a relocated structure.

McEwan's cruellest book, the one in which the violence seems most gratuitous and nasty, is The Comfort of Strangers (1981), his novella about a young British couple adrift in an autumnal Venice of shadows and fear that marked a point of transition for him: after this, and a long period of silence, he returned as a different writer. made up mostly of straight lines. This script was the ancestor of the `Times New Roman' font we find on our computer screens today. Another feature familiar to computer users is `italics'. Initially, characters written by hand resembled the carved letters, but gradually scholars began to change the form of their writing, slanting letters and connecting them. The credit for inventing Roman script using capitals and small letters goes to Aldus Manutius of Venice, in 1495 AD. The old Roman capitals and Greek letter forms were thus transformed into the twenty- six alphabet letters that we know today, with both upper and lower-case letters in common use by the end of the sixteenth century. modern diplomacy. The ambassadors' reports were sometimes opened and read, and, if necessary, crypt-analyzed. By the end of the century, cryptology had become important enough for most states to keep full- time cipher secretaries occupied in making up new keys, enciphering and deciphering messages, and solving intercepted dispatches. Sometimes the cryptanalysts were separate from the cipher secretaries and were called in only when needed. Perhaps the most elaborate organization was Venice's. It fell under the immediate control of the Council of Ten, the powerful and mysterious body that ruled the republic largely through its efficient secret police. Venice owed her preeminence largely to Giovanni Soro, who was perhaps the West's first great cryptanalyst. Soro, appointed cipher secretary in 1506, enjoyed remarkable success in solving the ciphers of numerous principalities. His solution of a dispatch of Mark Anthony Coloana, chief of the army of the Holy Roman Emperor

For the first time a method afterwards so characteristic to him becomes obvious: great upswings and culminations are growing from a very small germ (one voice). The work has been performed frequently in Western countries. The first performance was in 1964 at the International Festival of Contemporary Music in Venice. Italian critic Giacomo Manzoni remarked that Perpetuum was the first official sound document that reached Western audiences.1 West German musicologist Fred K. Prieberg stated that Perpetuum gave evidence of being an obvious bestseller in Western concert halls.2 In the same year, 1963, Pärt’s First Symphony was completed and dedicated to his teacher, Heino Eller.3 The work marked a deeper submerging into the spirit of the
