Raphael Sanzio

Raphael Sanzio Raphael (April 6 or March 28, 1483 April 6, 1520) was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. Raphael was enormously productive, running an unusually large workshop. Most of his work remains especially in the Vatican. He received his first training from his father, Giovanni Santi, who was a poet and a painter. After that he became a student and assistant of the painter Perugino. Raphael imitated his master closely and sometimes it is difficult to distinguish which works are painted by Raphael. His work at that period is Marriage of the Virgin (1.) Mary receives a ring from Joseph. In contrast to the calm figures of the main group, there are one man, who is shown in motion (liikuvuses). He is breaking a

Michelangelo

His first large scale commissioned work was the statue of Bacchus for a sculpture garden. Shortly thereafter, he created one of his most important works, the statue of David, and a commissioned piece symbolizing the freedom of the republic of Florence. Michelangelo truly had achieved fame as an artist, and his talent became sought after by Pope Julius II, who asked him to go on a very artistic ship-journey, a commission to paint the ceiling of the Sistine chapel in Vatican. At first, Michelangelo, who had been busy painting frescos in Pope Julius' tomb, refused his descendant's request, feeling that the undertaking of such a monumental task would take him away from sculpturing but the Pope insisted, and his word prevailed. Ironically, Michelangelo's work on the chapel ceiling broadened from the original request, which called for twelve paintings. Instead, he covered the entire ceiling with over 300 figures.

Mother Theresa

Mother Teresa Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu /agns gna bjadju/ (Albanian Gonxha for "rosebud") was born on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, now the capital of the Republic of Macedonia. Although she was born on August 26, 1910, she considered August 27, 1910, the day she was baptized, to be her "true birthday." Although some sources state that she was 10 when her father died, in an interview with her brother, the Vatican documents her age at the time as "about eight". She was the youngest of the children of a family from Shkodër, Albania, born to Kolë and Dranafile Bojaxhiu (Albanian Dranafile for "rose", nicknamed "Drone"). Her father, Kolë Bojaxhiu was involved in Albanian politics. In 1919, after a political meeting, which left Skopje out of Albania, he fell ill and died when Agnes was about eight years old. After her father's death, her mother raised her as a Roman Catholic

Two months later he drew a similarly detailed picture of Rome including the Vatican and St. Peter's Cathedral, entirely from memory. 7slaid Contrary to the popular misconception that Stephen is only interested in capturing architecture and classic american cars, he often draws portraits of celebrities and close friends in his private sketchbook. Stephen started creating caricatures of his teachers at primary school, and has since then produced many caricature 'snap shots' documenting amusing incidents encountered on his trips abroad as well. 8 slaid
