Theatres in Estonia

and the "Estonia" in Tallinn, could become professional, and in 1911 the "Endla" of P ärnu joined them. Theatre became especially popular amongst Estonians in the second half of the 19th century. Before that time, theatre had mostly been staged in German for the benefit of the local nobility and merchants. Theatre in Estonian emerged in various song and drama societies, the strongholds of national thought. In the early 20th century, these societies turned into professional theatres, some of which, the national opera Estonia for example, function even today. The scheme from society to theatre is a general phenomenon, because all the present state theatres once belonged to societies. Theatre played an important role in advancing and safeguarding the spirit of Estonians during both the period of last century's national awakening and the oppression of the Soviet regime. After the restoration of Estonia's

Theater of Tallinn

................................................................................... 9 References.................................................................................................................................10 2 Introduction I choose this topic because I want to get know more about local Theatres I hoped to get more information about their location, for whom each theatre is designed and a little overview about their history. The history of Estonian theatre does not differ much from that of the neighbor countries. The first play was performed in the 16th century at the Tallinn Town Hall. The town school children, who were Germans, staged Terence's The Andria in Latin. The first theatre house in Tallinn was mentioned in written materials which date from the late 17th century; the house

Teater NO99

Theatre NO99 I chose to write about this theatre because I like it the most. It is the most modern theatre I think and the plays are also most startling and astonishing, compare to other theatres in Estonia. It began to operate in February 2005, so it is one of the youngest theatres in Estonia. Probably that's why it is very different from the others and its repertoire is more contemporary then classical. Their first play what "Sometimes you feel that life will end and there hasn't been any love". The theatre also organizes so called one-time "actions", in which you can't be certain if it's going to be a success of failure, because the ideas are somewhat crazy

Iirimaa kultuur

Thirteen years later, Bill Whelan was invited to do the intermission piece for another Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, and composed Riverdance. In a book about Planxty (The Humours of Planxty, by Leagues O'Toole), Whelan says, "It was no mistake of mine to call it Riverdance because it connected absolutely to Timedance". Legacy Riverdance continues to be performed all over the world, in a diminished format and in smaller venues. Current productions are geared towards smaller theatres, whereas past productions have been performed in large theatres and arenas. Sets have therefore been simplified and some numbers contain fewer performers than in past productions (such as those seen on the Live from New York (1996) and Live from Geneva (2002) DVDs). Each production company is named after an Irish river: Liffey, Lee, Lagan, Avoca, Shannon, Boyne, Corrib, Foyle, Moy and Bann. Squares of London

Square, east of Piccadilly Circus, west of Covent Garden, and south of Cambridge Circus. Piccadilly Circus Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster, built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with the major shopping street of Piccadilly. In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction. Piccadilly now links directly to the theatres on Shaftsbury Avenue, as well as the Haymarket, Coventry Street (onwards to Leicester Square), and Glasshouse Street. The Circus is close to major shopping and entertainment areas in the West End. Its status as a major traffic intersection has made Piccadilly Circus a busy meeting place and a tourist attraction in its own right. The Circus is particularly known for its Shaftsbury memorial fountain and statue of an archer popularly known as Eros. It is

My ideal school would be situated in the middle of a city so it is near to shops, cinemas and theatres. Around the school would create running tracks, football places and facilities for every sport you could think of. There would also be a huge park for the pupils and public to enjoy together. Each classroom would be fitted with the most modern computers. Only twenty pupils would be in a lesson at one time so that the teachers could pay attention to each pupil. White boards and projectors would be available in every classroom. In my ideal school students would have large amount of technology. I would love for all students to have use the iPads. Essay: Living in a City

Nowadays more and more people are moving from the countryside to the cities. Why? There are many advantages of living in a city. There are more opportunities to find a job and to promote one's career. There are usually better schools and universities are founded in cities, too. On the other hand are cities pretty noisy, therefore it can create a restless environment for concentrated studying. A big advantage of living in a city is the variety of entertainment concerts, theatres, cinemas, restaurants and cafes, nightclubs and so on. However, in the countryside people can enjoy the silence and relax without paying any money. Also, in the countryside the environment is much greener and cleaner as in the cities the air is more polluted, which can damage our health. Living in a city, people have much better accessibility for things in need, like food, medications etc., because important industries and shopping centres are usually close to the consumers.

Where would you prefer to live and why?

Where would you prefer to live and why? I would prefer to live in a big city instead of a village or a small town. For example Tallinn, London, New York or Paris. To start with, I would like to live in a big city because of its advantages. Big cities usually have more opportunities to spend your day and night. There are cinemas, coffee shops, theatres, shopping centres, libraries and night clubs. Although you need money to attend different exhibitions and shows big city also offers you free activities. Secondly, there are lots of banks, company offices and factories where people can work. That is the second reason I think big city life is better than a life in a small village. Last but not least, people usually think that they would not like to live in a big city because there are too many people there and they would feel suffocated. But there are areas outside the centre of the town where people live. Big...

Currently, the building is occupied by a history museum and the visitors can use an observation platform on the roof and enjoy a picturesque view of the city. By the Dome Hill there's the main building of the University of Tartu. It's very big and beautiful. There are several museums, but also some theatres and cinemas. Tartu has many cafés in the centre of the city, for example café Pierre. With its historical atmosphere, it's a really great place for spending a quiet and relaxing evening. Tartu is the perfect place for living and it's certainly a good holiday destination if you like sightseeing. It's also a fine choice for students, because the University of Tartu has a really good reputation and education level. Karita Liivak 9b Tartu MRG 15.10.10

Everything was about the money. The most important person in the making of a movie was not the director, but the producer. That meant that the actors had to have extreamly good facial expressions and gesticulating. Litter in our country

Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk and others. People litter on the banks of the rivers, in parks, in the streets. A lack of bins is not a major factor in littering. Sometimes you can see the bin in the street, and a pile of litter half a meter away from it. The main reason of littering is behaviour. The more litter people see on the street the more inclined to litter. For example, cinema complexes, football ground and theatres are cleaned up but such areas as parks and streets are neglected. But people don't think that litter can be dangerous. It can especially be dangerous when it involves items such as broken glass, needles and syringes. Litter can get into the drainage system and block it. Litter scattered all over the city. Makes it look ugly. And it usually costs a lot of money to clean up the city every year. But the biggest problem is municipal dumps, because they cause environmental pollution

She managed to keep good relations with other great countries. However, the defeat of the Spanish Armada left no one questioning the superiority of the British navy. In addition, the kingdom’s territories grew during her reign, Virginia in America being named after „The Virgin Queen“. Queen Elizabeth I also valued culture. Arts flourished while Elizabeth was in power, most notably the theatre. She had the first real theatres built allowing poets like Shakespeare to create masterpieces. It is no wonder that Elizabeth I’s reign was named „The Golden Era“ as it was a time of peace during which England’s territory grew and arts such as theatre thrived. Secondly, the Victorian era is known for the enlargement of the Empire, revolutions in industry, science, education and Queen Victoria was the symbol for this period. During Queen Victoria’s reign the British Empire’s expansion reached it’s peak

His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. POEMS · In 1593 and 1594, when the theatres were closed because of plague, Shakespeare published two narrative poems on erotic themes, Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece. He dedicated them to Henry Wriothesley, Earl of Southampton. In Venus and Adonis, an innocent Adonis rejects the sexual advances of Venus; while in The Rape of Lucrece, the virtuous wife Lucrece is raped by the lustful Tarquin. Influenced by Ovid's Metamorphoses, the poems show the guilt and moral
