Technology has become a very important part of our lives nowadays. It can be argued that modern technology makes life easier and more dignified for most of people. Technology may be very helpful but it can sometimes be very harmful. Firstly, medical science is very progressive and vastly available. Without the needed technology a lot of people would struggle with their health. Secondly, some of the creations that have really changed our lives are the computer, telephone, transport, internet and electronic media, television. The modern means of transportation allows people to move quickly from one place to another. The airplane is the most widely used means of transportation. Mass Media Mass media is a term used to describe those means of communication which can reach large or mass audiences. The most important are probably Television, Radio, the Press and the Internet. Britain and America invented a lot of the technology used by the various modern communications media. In 1829, the typewriter was invented in America. In 1837, the telegraph was invented in Britain. In 18 76, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in America. This made it possible to talk to people thousands of miles away. The telephone is a telecommunications device, which is used to transmit and receive sound. It's one of the most common household appliances in the world today. The English-speaking peoples have always allowed more freedom of speech and of the press than most other countries. This gave them an advantage from the start in communications. Book-publishing grew rapidly in early modern England and America. So did
But the Internet also has its negative sides. The main problem of it is the spreading of viruses. A virus on your computer can cause that the computer to collapse. And then you could lose some files from your computer. Fixing the problem is expencive and takes time. Also the mobilephone has its negative sides because you need a lot of money to buy it and they are not very resistant. Calling somebody by a mobilephone can be very expensive when you call to a dial telephone. In conclusion I think the modern technology for communication is very good because it is faster when you use the Internet to send e-mails than sendig a letter by post. And when you have a mobliephone you are reachable whereever you are.
